Horrible customer service.
I went in to the Clanton tractor supply to buy a 3pt hitch trailer mover. A $300+ item. Located it out in the outdoor yard and loaded it onto a flatbed cart and then spent some time searching for some bushing adapters and picked up a couple of ammo cans on the way to check out.
I am a disabled veteran so in *theory I should get tractor supplies âhometown heroâsâ military discount. When I went to check out I asked the gal at register to add the military discount. Thatâs when the run around started.
She said I would have to join the âneighborhood clubâ or whatever the hell itâs called, but that takes over two hours to kick in. âŠ..or she could get the manager to do a one time discount right then. So she proceeds to leave the register to go get the manager. She comes back a few minutes later with another gal that ends up NOT being a manager. This gal tells me the same thing- either join the club online or the Manager could do a discount right then and there. She then goes to get the actual manager, after a few more minutes (people are starting to get backed up in line behind me waiting to check out) with what I assume is the manager shows up and grabs the little flyer and says I have to join online to get a discount but it takes over two hours. After getting this horrible customer service I said to them I might come back later to make the purchase. I walked out of the store leaving the very heavy trailer mover on the cart. It was painful loading it- one of my injuries from my time in the Marine Corps is two ruptured discs in my lower back. It HURTS to bend over and pick up anything that weighs more than 100lbs like the trailer mover did.
The manager could have simply swiped his card or put in his code to do the discount. He did not.
The gentleman behind me was parked next to to me came out and saw I was still sitting there. I was sitting in my truck trying to join the club to get the discount. Itâs a long horribly set up process to join online- their website is slow and full of glitches. He said to me he gave them hell for making me/us wait and not providing the discount for me right then and there, which they could have easily done.
This long convoluted process to get the discount is on purpose to make it very difficult to get the discount. They want people to throw up their hands and say screw it just go ahead and check me out without the discount.
Tractor supply is lying about honoring âhometown heroâsâ. Which is completely idiotic after it came to light that the tractor supply CEO is a raging liberal democrat supporting groups and causes that are 100% anti-military/police.
After joining their âdiscountâ club I checked a one hour later online trying to get the discount applied to my order- no discount. Two hours later- no discount. 8 hours later- no discount. Finally at 0430 this morning after deleting my online shopping cart and reloading everything I had to click on âapply codeâ to get a one time quarterly 5% discount coupon to load and be applied. There was also a âfree same day deliveryâ coupon available that I clicked on to apply to my order. The free delivery would have gone a little ways towards making up for all the hoops I had to jump through to get to this point.
I hit the âplace orderâ button and a warning box popped up notifying me that some something had exceeded my daily discount- it wasnât going to let me have the military discount AND have free delivery for the same order.
Tractor supply is intentionally making it very difficult to sign up and then get the actual military discount on purchases. They want people to just give up and pay full price.
People should shop elsewhere if at all possible. Both Loweâs and Home Depot have 10% discount, tractor supplyâs discount is only 5%. Those stores are actually...

I cannot say enough great things about the Tractor Supply in Clanton, AL! Every time I visit, the store is always clean, well-organized, and fairly well stocked on just about everything I need. The cashiers are always friendly and helpful, and they never hesitate to assist or point me in the right direction if Iâm looking for something specific.
One of the biggest reasons I keep coming back is the incredible service from Assistant Manager Jordan. He is always smiling, so friendly, and goes above and beyond to assist with absolutely anything you could need. His knowledge of the store and its products is unmatched, and if an item happens to be out of stock, he makes sure to let you know exactly when it will be available. He truly cares about customers and makes every shopping experience a positive one.
I recently had an issue with a purchase, and Jordan handled it quickly and professionally. His outstanding customer service and willingness to help make a huge difference. Honestly, this store wouldnât be the same without him! He makes you want to be a loyal customer, and I am so grateful to have this Tractor Supply location in Clanton....
