Captain Austin McWhorter Fly Fishing Guide — Local services in Clearwater

My family and I have been fishing with Austin since 2014. Prior to that, we had used several other guides. After fishing with Austin one time, we have never gone elsewhere. Not only does Austin know the Tampa / Clearwater fishery, but he's patient and kind with his customers. Over the years, Austin has put us on our first redfish, first snook and our first tarpon! And 2nd. And 3rd. And...... :). All we have to do is show up on time to the pre-arranged location, and we know 100% that Austin has done his homework, knows where the fish are, and has all the proper tackle to give us the best chance of success. Capt Austin was able to put me on SO many redfish on our charter. I have never seen so many reds, in one zone, in my entire my life. I have only been fly fishing for a month, and he was able to get me on some nice fish. He even added time in the end to chase some tarpon. Capt Austin provided a wealth of knowledge and expertise that would take decades to figure out on my own as a novice fly fisherman. His Floyd Skiff was comfortable, and he was well outfitted for any fish we came across. He is highly recommended, even for the novice fly fisherman. My friend and I had the pleasure of chartering a guided fly trip with Captain Austin. Austin was great with communication leading up to our outing, and was very accommodating of trying to work with us to ensure the best chance of success on the trip. He put us on fish right away and all day. It was challenging to get them to eat at times, but he certainly put us in the right spots and we did have a few nice catches. Austin was a great coach. Unlike some guides I've had, Austin was always positive and encouraging with his coaching and was just a good guy to spend a day with on the water.
