If H-E-B is not declared a Texas Treasure yet, it really should be. A few examples of Texas treasures are Whataburger, Dr. Pepper, and Mrs. BAIRDS BREAD. H-E-B is a very clean store with friendly staff and management. There are competitive prices on commonly sold grocery items such as eggs, milk, produce, and much more. I heard about the humble beginnings of what was C.C. Butt Grocery starting in 1905 in Kerrville, Texas. Florence Butt who started this company was in desperate need to support her family, so she opened up a small grocery store. She had been given help in her times of need by her community, and was forever grateful. This is what made her want to return the act of kindness with community involvement. Once her family got financially stable, she began giving back to her community by donating food to needy people, and today, H-E-B has many ways of helping members of various communities. This massive supermarket chain is probably the most generous when it comes to serving the community and helping those in need. Even employees have been given help at times. Many managers and employees state that they feel highly valued and enjoy working for this people help people focused grocery store with a list of community service examples that is too long to write out. H-E-B sets one of the best examples of how a buisiness should be run by focusing on people first, and profitability will quickly follow. The profits are divided up in various ways to benefit employees, charities, disaster relief efforts, members of the military, small buisiness owners, and on and on. This private company is not interested in investors or Wall Street, or being publicly traded on any stock exchange; they became successful without ever selling any stocks in their company. Want to know more? Go online and read the long and heart warming truth about this company that loves 2 things above all else, food and people. I only wish I could bring Florence Butt back to life so I can tell her that I am proud of her and her love for people. Also, I wish she could see how big her community focused buisiness has become and how many ways it offers help to mankind. She would be so proud, happy, and overcome with joy that she would not know how to express her gratitude to everyone who works so hard at making H-E-B the largest community loving grocery store chain of all time. Gratitude is by far, the best emotion that a human...
Read moreCashier Paula was the rudest customer service representative I have ever experienced in my life. We came in to grab 2 things and got in line behind someone who had a basket full of items. The lady in front of us told us to go ahead of her since we only had 2 things. We both thanked her and walked up to the cashier (Paula). The first thing that came out of her mouth wasn't a greeting or anything pleasant. She looked at us and then at the lady behind us and laughed. Paula said in a condescending voice, "Thank you for letting them go before you, that's so nice of you". I smiled and tried to brush it off since we had clearly already thanked the woman. Paula then proceeded to say as she looked at the lady behind us, "you see I tried to open the door for them to thank you themselves but all they did was smile and laugh. Thank you again ma'am." At this point she has crossed a line that should of never been crossed and made all parties uncomfortable in a situation she obviously knew nothing about. The third time her comment was, "In case you didn't hear me, I opened the door for you two to thank her as well but you still haven't done that". I looked Paula directly in the eye and told her that we had already thanked the woman but thank you for making this an uncomfortable experience for everyone and her response was, "you're welcome". I waited a few days to type this so I could cool off but I would be absolutely embarrassed for this individual to work for my business. She has no business being around other people or in a position where she is allowed to treat guest like complete crap when they are spending their hard earned money at your store. If this is the first you are hearing about Paulas awful behavior it definitely won't be the last. I will wait 30 minutes in someone else's line next time instead of 5 minutes in Paulas if that means I never have to speak to her again. Worst customer service I have ever experienced.
We shop here all the time and have never had any issues. Paula is the only issue...
Read moreI came in to grab some cookies and cupcakes. After I grabbed the cookies, I went to the counter at the bakery to pick out some cupcakes. There were two employees there: one older lady who was cleaning, and the other was a younger gentleman taking cookies off the rack to be put in packages or something. I probably stood there for a good couple of minutes with neither one of them acknowledging that I was even there. I put my package of cookies on the counter, thinking that they would at least notice the noise, which didn't happen. Finally, the lady finished cleaning, and I thought she was coming towards me, but she ended up again turning around and cleaning some more. I mean, I'm a pretty big dude, I was wearing a baby blue shirt; you couldn't miss me. But obviously, she did. Then she turned around, went the back way, and told something to the younger gentleman. As she started heading away, I guess she saw me, from further back than when she was up close. She finally asked me if I needed help, and I said yes. The thing that irritated me was what she said after that, which was, 'SPEAK UP! We are busy cleaning,' which rubbed me the wrong way. I mean, are you blind? Do you have horse blinders on? Is awareness not something they practice? I bit my tongue and proceeded to collect my items and left. I didn't know it was the customer's responsibility to be aware of their surroundings. If that's the case, put a bell on the counter or a button so that the bakery can see when someone is wanting assistance. It was just a bad...
