I went here on a Saturday looking for two row and they didn't have any. When I asked the cashier (the only one working) he said it was there he got up and showed me Carmel 40 and pointed where it said two row on it. I explained to him its made from two row but it's not the same thing. I ask him for base malts as everything they had were adjuncts. He said he didn't know and walked away. I found some over priced DME and headed to the register and he asked me was there anything else I needed, I said yeah I need two row but you don't have it. He said " I showed you were it was" I explained to him again that's not the same thing and he said "well anyway, I'll bring it up to my manager on Monday" I said to him it's crazy you are a home brew shop but I can't brew beer with the stuff you have in the shop. He clearly has no idea about homebrewing. I mean technically you can brew a super terrible beer on just caramel 40 or something light crystal malts but that's probably not drinkable. Also everything was prepackaged in 1 lb bags. How do you crush grains if it's prepackaged? It's not like the kid would put together a grain bill if I gave it to him. Don't waste your time here, spend the extra time to go to Boonton or Jersey City and go to a real homebrew shop...
Read moreI walked into Corrodos on Dec 10th. 2017 at approximately 4:30 pm hoping to purchase a wine press and crusher/ De-stemmer, and an oak barrel. My girlfriend and I inquired about the above items with the incompetent person sitting at the register who never bothered to get out of his seat and was very dismissive and told us we’d have to come back in September. I then asked if I could order the items, but the employee seamed bothered and told me that they only have what’s in stock and pointed to the rear of the store. He then repeated that I’d have to come back in September. If this is a representation of Corrodos I’ll take my business elsewhere and will also tell all my family and friends not to shop at Corrodos. I’ve been shopping there for 10 years. I’ll get my new equipment from an...
Read moreStopped in today to get some last-minute supplies for bottling beer and also for my next brew day. I agree with the other reviews that the main focus of this place is wine making, however their beer supply stuff can get you what you need as long as you're not straying too far from the beaten path. They had a good supply of carboys, tubing, bottles, and that kind of thing. Their grain supply might have been a little less than Love2Brew had when it was in Paterson but in a pinch it will do. They also had foam stoppers for a 2L flask yeast starter in stock!
I agree with other reviews that the employees in the place are friendly but not really terribly knowledgeable: you're probably better off watching a lot of Larry's Beer n BBQ or going to...
