This place is NOT family friendly. I was dining with a friend and our small children, when AFTER getting our 3 year old boys to calm down we were approached and basically shamed for our boys being noisy. I will add at this particular time their volume was also full of laughter and basically little boys happily playing. My 3 year old boy did later start to cry when I did not allow him to get ice cream due to him not eating, but I did buy a scoop of ice cream for my daughter who did eat. Toddlers cry, and melt down...they have since the beginning of time, and it’s not pleasant for any parent. However, what is really unpleasant to have have the manager or maybe owner walk up and in a very condescending and passive aggressive manner tell you it’s time for your children to leave before finishing your food. My daughter was not able to finish her ice cream however we were asked to leave.
This place does have a reputation of not treating kids when they come in for ice cream or a meal. On their Facebook review they literally stated it was because high school kids vandalize the property...but when you treat parents of children like garbage, you have lost the future of your business. Treating kids poorly will not lead to those kids or their parents contributing to...
Read moreIt’s a shame the old time drug stores with fountains and grills like this in the hearts of our towns are a thing of the past. Glad Hoskins has survived. Today I took my parents and enjoyed. Had the Shepherds Pie and veggies and everything really was good. Very tasty and a cooked like home taste.
The service was decent. The two older ladies out front were tremendous at service and especially since this was our first time helping us get acclimated and feel at home. But the younger staff have so much to learn about the kind of service people expect in a place like this. They seemed to act as if they were inconvenienced to have to wait on folks. While the older staff seemed to consider it a privilege to serve folks. A huge difference. People want more than just the nostalgia. They also want...
Read moreThis place is wonderful, the nostalgic feeling, the antiques, the photos.. except for the staff on the dinner side. They weren’t friendly at all. We were a little confused on how to order our food, if we find a seat ourselves or do we wait to be seated? We were not even greeted. Finally we went to the counter & told the staff we have never been here before & would like to order. The lady just stood there with a blank stare. We ordered our food, we found a seat & wasn’t sure how we even get our drinks. Finally someone brought us our drinks. We never got checked on, & as we pay to leave, the lady at the register asks us if we want to leave a tip on our card which was a no… The food portions were small. We left hungry. Food was pricey. I give them a 3 stars because of the...
