This is the worst internet provider you could possibly have. Not ONCE did we ever get speeds over half of what we were paying for in a year and a half.
When you sign up for their service, there's this little check box for a free wifi extender, but even if you check that box, they charge you monthly for it. Then, they never once tell you that you have to return it when you disconnect, anywhere. It never worked, we were supposed to be using it for free, yet were charged monthly for it AND had to scramble to find the piece of junk so we didn't get charged for it after we disconnected service.
They also refused to give me a receipt for the equipment I returned in store, so I am positive they are going to charge me for it after the awful service and rip off tactics this company uses. How can you refuse to give someone proof they turned all equipment in? Oh I know why, because then it can "get lost" and you make more money. Not only that but the guy I handed the equipment to continually dropped it while I was in the store, then when I asked if his dropping the stuff would get me charged he just said no. Then he dropped it again. No doubt I am going to pay for that.
In the first three months of service, we had technicians out 3 times. The internet started working better after they put in a different modem, but the speeds, again, never reached half of what we were paying for.
They are also charging me for another entire month worth of service because they did not allow me to disconnect over the weekend like I tried, which means I disconnected a couple days after the 1st, so I have to pay an entire months worth of service due to them telling me to "call back on Monday".
When calling to disconnect it was over an hour of literal harassment , different people asking in 20 different ways if I'm sure I won't keep service, and one of the men was unbelievably rude. No matter how many times I let them know I was not interested no matter what they offered, and to please just disconnect rather than wasting my time as I had other things to do, they just kept on and on. The incredibly rude guy said too many things to explain here, but as example he kept saying he needed to transfer me to someone else to complete the disconnect but wouldn't transfer me, and would laugh when I asked him to please transfer me like he'd been talking about for the previous 15 minutes. It was as if he enjoyed wasting others time and found it amusing.
I would never recommend optimum to anyone unless you enjoy being ripped off in every way imaginable. They do not feel bad about it either, it's just...
Read moreI don’t normally leave reviews but this definitely warrants the time. We had Optimum internet in Clovis NM for roughly 5mo with horrendous results. The service would only be functional 30% of the time. Regardless of wind, a hard rain or just being a sunny day the internet was so intermittent that we ended up using our phones for hot spots a majority of the time. Definitely irritating when you are paying decent money for internet service.
With multiple calls to optimum and service techs coming out we thought the issue would be resolved but nothing.. In the end we canceled the service due to it being non-functional.
3mo later we got a little surprise. Collections called us saying that we had a missed payment with optimum. The bill was always paid on time with zero issues, yet now Optium is saying we were billed for an additional month after it was canceled. After calling Optimum they informed us there was nothing they could do about the charge. We were forced to pay the extra bill irregardless of never having the service for month billed. This provider is like a leech you just can’t pull off.
I’d strongly recommend looking elsewhere...
Read moreCalled customer service because I had a line knocked down by the wind. The line was hanging in the road and I was worried a neighbor kid on their bike might get tangled in it. Customer service scheduled someone to remove the line. I received a confirmation text with the wrong address listed, and then a cancelation text shortly after. Next text was a bill for $78, for work they didn't do. I went by the local office and the appointment was canceled because I'm not a paying customer. They couldn't do anything about bill I received, and said to call customer service. They told me to snip the line off myself as I had no proof it belonged to Optimum. They then sent someone out to remove the line from the road and disconnect it from the power pole. They left the line in a pile in my yard. Next text said I owe $156. The bill is now down to $78 which they will not be receiving anytime soon. I didn't have any interest in switching to Optimum before, and I definitely won't do business with this...
