This gem of a food truck is hard to miss, but worth visiting! They are only open on Fridays and Saturdays, but since discovering them a few weeks ago I've been back every Saturday to try out different items on their menu.
Value 5/5: entrees are between $12-15 depending on the meat and are sizable portions good for at least two meals for a single person.
Atmosphere 5/5: I know what you're thinking, it's just a food truck... But the owners set up a comfortable atmosphere with chairs, umbrellas and misters to keep you comfortable even on the hottest days.
Service 5/5: All members of the family that own and operate this place are extremely friendly and hospitable. Even though the food takes a little time to come out (calling ahead around 30 minutes is advised!), the vibes they create makes the time fly by.
Food 5/5: And lastly the most important part, the food is fresh cooked and tasty. There are a few items that I would tweak (I'm particular about some dishes), but overall everything I've eaten here has been delicious! I wish the food was spicier, most dishes primarily use jalapenos which is a little weird to me for Thai food. It's not a problem, but using Thai chilis (which they do use sparingly in some dishes) instead would provide more heat. I just add some crushed Thai chilis when I get home and all is well!
Overall 5/5: V's Place is worth the visit, there is a reason why they have such good reviews! Pad Thai - This is a good noodle dish, but not my favorite Pad Thai. It tastes like they use a tomato product instead of tamarind, which is pretty common in the US, but not what I'm looking for to scratch a Pad Thai craving. It also needs more heat! I will probably order it again when I want to mix it up.
V's Special - A delicious stir fry dish with a fragrant sauce. It's served with white rice and is one of my favorite dishes here.
Lo Mein - One of the best lo meins I've ever ordered. They don't skimp on the meat or veggies.
General Tso Chicken - This dish is a little heavy on the breading to meat ratio, but the sauce is so good. Not too sweet and more savory than the sugar-packed version you find at most Chinese restaurants. It also packs a decent punch of heat.
Fried Rice - A little basic compared to fried rice I've had at other Thai restaurants, but very tasty. I think it's just missing basil.
Pad Kee Mao - A delicious meat and vegetable noodle dish with a soy sauce based flavoring. It's kind of like beef and broccoli with noodles. Definitely worth a try.
Crab Puffs - I got to sample one of these while waiting today. I thought the ratios were perfect and they would be great with some Thai sweet and sour sauce.
Thai coffee - I believe this is a newer menu item. It is a little less sweet than other Thai coffees I've had in the past, which I really enjoyed. Still plenty sweet, so if you normally drink lattes and the like, you'll probably enjoy these. They also have Thai tea, which I would guess is equally delicious if that's your jam.
Update Aug '25: Sesame chicken - This was not good for me. It uses the same chicken as the General Tso (good), but I think preparation was off today. The sauce was gritty like the sugar wasn't fully incorporated and the chicken had an unpleasant sugary crust like the sauce got into the breading and then hardened. Overall way too much sugar and not prepared well.
Mongolian - Tasty stir fry dish that is similar to V's Special without as much heat and with the addition of some other veggies (baby corn, broccoli, and carrots). It was basically beef and broccoli you'd get from a Chinese restaurant with some additional vegetables and whatever meat you want (I got the combination which was good). A nice dish if you're looking for...
Read moreThis place is amazing!!! We were looking for a place that had a good amount of food at a decent price and boy did we find it, a new go to place. We arrived right at 11 right as they were opening. All the staff were very welcoming and polite, explaining the menu, helping us get to know the place as they continued to set up and get going. With all the delicious options to chose from we wound up getting the chicken lo mein, the beef and broccoli, and some egg rolls and spring rolls. The food tasted amazing!!! The chicken lo mein was really good, the chicken was tender and had good flavor. The broccoli Beef was fantastic, the sauce had amazing flavor, brocoli was cooked perfect and tatsed amazign with the sauce, and the meat had great flavor and was tender. Best broccoli and beef I've had in a long time. We saw that they had Thai Tea and Thai Coffee and asked about it, they offered us a sample of each and we did not regret it, they are both definitly worth a try, they tasted so great. The Thai Tea was pink and had a very good interesting flavor with sweet side to it. The Thai Coffee was delicious, had a good balance of coffee flavor and sweetness with a good roasted or slightly smoky flavor, had flavor similar to a mocha coffee. Was one of the best coffees I've had. Will definitely be stopping by again on Fridays or Saturdays when we are in town. Thanks so much guys the food was...
Read moreI'm new to Clovis & was craving me some spicy papaya salad! 🌶️🔥 I luckily stumbled on this hidden gem on Google and decided to give it a try! Got the last order of papaya salad before they sold out & went with 4 chilis - perfect level of spice (probably could've done an extra to really sweat)! Authentic flavor for sure, definitely cured my homesickness.
I also wanted to try the Pad Thai cause it looked so good, but they sadly sold out at 5:30pm, so if you're looking to order, get there sooner - but I'm definitely coming back to try it 😋 I got the chicken Lo Mein & it perfectly complemented the papaya salad!
The service was amazing, they were so personable & kind! There's a table outside available if the weather is nice to wait for your food or eat! I would definitely recommend trying this place out if you're...
