While the town and people are delightful, jellyfish are thick in the water by August—you see them at least every several feet. The stings are relatively mild, but unavoidable and enough to completely ruin our first family beach week with young children. We are so sad and just wish we had known, so this is a heads up for others prior to planning and paying for a vacation rental. If you end up stuck, seeing this too late, and not knowing what to do: we went an hour north to Aquia park to swim in the fresh water free from jellyfish. Seaweed, but still fun and refreshing. An hour and a half north to spend a day at George Washington’s Mt Vernon. Spent a day junking at the area junk and antique stores, kids loved this. Enjoyed the excellent downtown park, restaurants and ice cream shops. An hour away is King’s Dominion Soak City for water park fun. So in short, you can improvise a fun vacation but it took a lot of driving and we were disappointed that the relaxing beach week we had planned...

Trying a different scenery from the usual beaches. Before we got to the beach. We stopped by foodlion down the street and instantly noticed that driving a Golf cart is the local thing to do around there. This was a day trip but if you're planning to stay longer I would suggest stopping by one of the rental shops that you cant miss on your way to the beach and getting a cart to explore the town. This beach was a bit different for me. The closer you are to the restaurants and food trucks the more of diversity you will see. The whole beach is open but certain areas and the one that we were in had a beachfront neighborhood that let's just say, certain southern heritage paraphernalia hanging from there home along with this particular guy shouting and making sure noone came near his home if you were of certain ethnicity. Don't let that stop you from enjoying the beach. It's very quaint compared to the traditional city beaches I'm used to but it has it's...

Very nice and quiet Beach to visit. My wife and I went there for few hours and love it. You will not be disappointed if you are looking for a nice quiet place to go for few hours. Not too many people were there when we went. it will probably pick up later on. This beach has few motels. I did not see any big hotel / restaurants. To me it's just a local beach where you can go for few hours. As for restaurants , I only saw one or two. Bring your own foods as you were going to a park. We will visit again. Next time with the kids so that they...

Let's start with when u get there. Parking is $2 an hr for the first 3 hrs. Afterwards it's $20 for the whole day. So if u don't feel like walking back and forth just pay the twenty like I did. Beach is very nice. Should be plenty of area/ space for u and family to setup and enjoy. There are restaurants, food trucks, and other venders along beach at one end. A must see is the view from the pier. And if u are licensed, try your luck from the pier. ** Pay attention to all signs. Roads and traffic change coming in opposite direction.
