I came into this shop last Saturday & asked if they took walk ins. I was asked what I was looking to have done and I replied just a wash and press IF they were able to do it. I said that I knew they were a braiding salon, but wanted to check to see if they were capable of doing a wash and press, and if not, it was totally fine. I got a bunch of weird stares as if I had something on my face. One of them asked if I meant a flat iron press & I said yes. Everyone in the shop seemed nervous of what I was asking & finally one of the older ladies said that she could wash my hair for me.

I sat down in one of the chairs & had my 6 braids taken down. The older lady taking down my hair started commenting about how much oil was in my hair and ran her fingers through my hair to show me. This was absolutely uncalled for and rude, especially since my hair was going to be washed anyway. I told her I need to put oil in my hair frequently because it dries out so much due to it being dry here. As I was walking over to the sink to have my hair washed, another lady, (a heavyset woman with hairy legs & arms), came over to me and glared at me like she was disgusted at me and asked why I wanted my hair straightened. I told her it’s because I have a demanding job and need it to be as low maintenance as possible for a little while. She still looked at me strange and asked where I worked and I said, at a hospital. She then laughed at me and asked if I don’t ever get braids? I said I get braids all the time, but I wanted to get my hair straightened because I wanted to. When the older lady began to wash my hair, she was still commenting about the oil in my hair and said, we need to make sure we get all the oil out. She spent about 3-4 minutes washing my hair. If I had as much oil in my hair as she claimed, she would’ve spent longer than 3 minutes washing it, but I digress.

After she washed my hair, the hairy woman had me sit in another chair & began to blow dry my hair poorly and then proceeded to start to section my hair and straighten it. She didn’t put any heat protectant on it at all. About the 2nd or 3rd piece of hair she did, she touched my skin with the flatiron and I jerked my head away. She “apologized” and then said, “she won’t touch my skin again, but will run the iron, only on my hair.” Why in the world would you touch someone’s skin with a flatiron to begin with while straightening their hair???? I said okay, and she kept straightening. She then made a comment, “it’s a good thing you express your pain because some people won’t and will just take it. I always say it’s important to express when you’re hurting.” I replied, “I will ALWAYS express when I’m in pain when getting my hair done. I’ve had too many bad experiences from hair dressers not taking my complaints seriously and ended up hurting me very badly.” She then said she would spray water on my roots to prevent my skin from being burned by the iron. I looked at her strange and said, “ummm it’s not heat protectant?” She said, no it’s just water. She herself wasn’t even sure & was asking another lady if using water would keep me from being burned. Within 15 seconds of her asking this, this lady put the iron right on my skin again, and I let out a terrible scream while pulling my head away. I could hear my skin & hair sizzling. As I was pulling my head away, she kept the iron ON MY SKIN AND IN MY HAIR. My scream scared everybody in the shop. And I told the lady to just stop doing my hair and that I was leaving because she refused to listen to me when I told her that she was hurting me and that the iron was too close to my scalp. Needless to say, the other women working there came over to my chair to ask what happened and the lady who was doing my hair tried to say that I screamed and pulled away because I only felt the steam from the iron. All the women began laughing at me & tried to get me to stay but I left. Pics are below of what I combed out of my hair last night from the patch where I was burned. You guys are absolutely horrible and I will NEVER recommend...

The first time I came here they were professional and charged me 75 dollars for braiding. However the second time I scheduled an appointment it was almost impossible to get in touch with them then when I scheduled my appointment they weren't there. Which I waited an additional 10 minutes while trying to call and txt them. After which I left. They called 20 minutes later to tell me they were on there way and had scheduled me for later but never notified me that they did. After that I came in to get my hair done and I had told the lady to do my hair like it was done the first time there. She said alright she could do it. after it was all done she asked me how much they charged me last time I told her 75 she then proceeded to tell me it that was impossible sense it should've been 150 the lowest being 120. I told her if I had known that I wouldn't have come she then lowered it to 100 which is still more than the last time but at that point I just wanted to leave. So I paid that amount. I will never recommend this place to anyone unprofessional. In my opinion also for clarification Betty did my hair the first time the second time was her sister however if her sister didn't know how Betty did it then she should've asked or not have done it and let Betty do it. Either way I'm dissatisfied with how things...

I called a day ahead to schedule my appointment for 8:30 . When I got into the salon, there was no one there to greet me. Finally at around 8:40 another guest said hello loudly to try to get someone to come out and talk to us. A lady finally came and she asked me what I wanted. I told her I had scheduled an appointment for 8:30. She acted all confused and then went to the back to get another lady. The other lady told me that the lady that I talked to wasn’t coming into work that day. And that she didn’t tell them I had an appointment. She told me to come back at 10 because she had a doctor appointment but she would be back at 10 to do my hair and she would tell her next client to come at 2. When I got back she still wasn’t back. And the lady that was there told me that “my lady” couldn’t do my hair because she had another guest scheduled for 10. Apparently she never told the other guest to come at a later time. The lady then proceeded to ask me if I could come back at 1. I said no because I live to far away and I’m not gonna keep going...

Betty and all the ladies that work here do a wonderful job at a fair price. If you are looking for a braider in Colorado Springs this is the place. They allow walk ins but I recommend making an appointment for a guaranteed spot. They also provide hair but I recommend coming in early to see if they have your desired color and length. If they don't have it there's a beauty supply nearby you can run to that you can purchase from. They only accept cash or zelle so be prepared before you come in.
