TL;DR Update Thank you, Evan!!! Awesome job! We can not believe the "negative" reviews: I know from our MANY experiences throughout our 31 years in COS that Blackjack Pizza (the South Academy location) is phenomenal. 1 - EACH time, we have ordered: The staff have always been super professional, kind, patient, helpful, and have fantastic customer service 2 - the food: throughout the many year's - each of our orders have (We swear:) have been delicious, have the freshest ingredients, and instead of the "cookie cutter," chain Pizza places menu items/Ingredients, Blackjack Pizza (imho) is more like an Italian Bistro or - "Pizza Fine Dining," - instead of "canned," tomato sauce, canned toppings, veggies, etc...every salad is delicious, fresh, innovative, they have REAL Buffalo wings, - the cooked in butter and vinegar base - are EXACTLY how traditional Buffalo wings are supposed to be, and every other pizza and/or "wings" restaurants, claim to have and are NOT! (I mean, they actually use RICOTTA CHEESE - which is way more delicious, while other's just pile on less expensive mozzarella. Their deep dish pizzas are stellar, and we aren't usually "Pizza People," but, order and love (and have loved) EVERY pizza!!! Calzones (made with RICOTTA cheese) are cooked well without that overcooked tough "cardboard," texture & flavored crust - or terribly cold, raw dough We lovvveeee their cheesy bread!!!! And they have the best, original desserts - ice cream (yay) cookies, Brownies & cinnamon bread (AND: they have the best tasting frosting - that has the "homemade," quality *We know this is a LOT of info, but we get so frustrated by the negative reviews: We both noticed that the bad reviews, in MOST cases, blame the restaurant and staff for the delivery companies mistakes/wrong doing...if you notice a couple of pictures SHOW the orders: "no sauce," - and these reviews appear to be "Doordash," Grubhub, orders...We have used almost every delivery service and each & every time, our orders have something wrong, missing, etc, it So, we both adopted the - if we have "special needs," that require sauces, ingredients, allergies (yes, they have spaces, for "special instructions," but rarely get them correct) We CALL (Blackjack Pizza - or other places) directly before our online order and let them know, & they are great SUPER for looking out for us and being so kind, patient, and about it, no matter how busy, which believe me, they are, they still go that extra mile to provide us such excellent experience. And, btw: it would be great if customers who have the same great experiences would take 30 seconds to say: "Please, and/or thank you." It's seems like so many people who do not have the best experience - instead of just getting angry and writing all the negative comments/reviews, take a moment to figure out what happened and let them know, so that they DO have an opportunity to address the issue. This is not "just," a Blackjack Pizza "problem," this is: our country seems to run on surveys, and unfortunately, MOST of the time, the only people willing to leave feedback, aren't the "real," & accurate portrayal of their businesses. So, we end up disappointed and/or bewildered that we lost another great favorite restaurant or other businesses because of negative reviews. Finally: this too is another issue, not just related to Blackjack: The staff here (and other businesses) get constantly "beat up," for trying to do a great job: especially since Covid, first broke out: we all KNOW that restaurants (especially,) have limited products, personnel, and hours of operation, NONE of these issues are the employees fault: we are both Army Veterans, and we get thanked for our service...by the staff, and we honestly thank them for showing up and working their butt's off - all while many "able-bodied," people are staying home & cashing checks. Many employees we talk to seem to be either very young or older adults who HAVE to work to support their families. Blackjack Pizza: Kudos, keep up the fabulous work &...
Read moreI wish I could give the manager zero stars, zero customer service skills when you try and talk to the managers they immediately go on the defensive and blame the customers blackjack pizza will never receive another dollar from me they need to be shut down if you don’t know how to manage a restaurant and effectively communicate with customers ZERO STARS / and let’s clarify since you want to lie now like a typical joke Colorado local your manager was rude zero consideration to answer questions or even try to resolve any of the issue if that’s how yall feel business should be ran fine then reports can be made to the city your trying to turn yourself into a victim when no one is attacking you my order could have been very easily handled but the first associate could not handle anything so they passed the call off to the manager witch was rude and condescending your in a busy to please people under any circumstance minus yes purposely giving away free food witch is not even a question even though there’s a chance y’all’s app glitched witch could have resulted in the coupon I was intending to use to not add to the order. And no one cussed at you so accept the fact that your a bad owner and you have bad management fill free to hide behind lies you probably are a Colorado local and don’t understand the first thing about caring about anyone other then yourself so hey I’m contacting the city and seeing what they can do to help make a complaint against you your manager so thanks for being understanding and a human being have a good one thanks for the crummy pizza and wings I still prefer Papa Murphy’s take and bake pizza over...
Read moreExcellent little pizza joint!
Heres the breakdown. I had never heard of this place, but I needed a good pizza spot that is close to my work so I can hook up the coworkers with a good lunch every once in a while. I consider myself a Pizza Connosear 🍕 and find myself quite skeptical about new (to me) pizza joints. This place did not let me down.
Food: Ordered the "good deal" and their traditional pepperoni, and they were both fantastic. Having been there a few times now, my last order was unfortunately undercooked in the center, so I dropped a star for that.
Service: Almost exactly what I expect from any pizza joint. Chill staff who can chit chat for a few moments while packing your food, but get the food to you quickly and get your out the door to eat it while it's still hot. Cheesy and excellent fresh flavors all around from meat to veggies. Gooey but firm dough, exactly how most people like it. However, dont forget to ask for ranch dip (they've got the GOOD ranch) or other toppings or plates because they won't ask and remind you, thus dropping one star from service.
Atmosphere: This is not your "sit eith a beer and eat pizza" kind of place, as they dont offer dine in. It's a large kitchen with a small pickup area/counter. No neat decor or much else. I like it for the most part, nothing to complain about here, so I left an average 3/5 stars for that.
Overall, I can highly recommend this place to anyone looking for exceptional pizza for takeout or delivery. Hope you all have a...
