We have a second home in Colorado and visit for extended periods of time.
On our visit in August/September I decided to look for a salon that I could visit when we were in Colorado. First thing that I noticed on the Prodigy site was that they were a 'Paul Mitchell Salon' so I called requesting a stylist that was good with color and short hair specifically razor cut. Brandy was strongly recommended.
On my first visit I was very happy with the cut and the color that I saw in front. I was not offered a mirror nor did I think about asking for one. When I went to style my hair the next morning I realized that I had THREE different colors on my hair. The front was blond, the sides up from my ears were kind of a green and the back was brunette. I had asked and paid for a color to cover the gray and then highlights all over! I decided to let it pass as we were leaving town within days and it was my understanding that BRANDY was fairly new to the profession.
In October/November we were back in Colorado. I had intentionally not had my hair colored nor cut by the Salon that I normally use in order to make an appointment for another color and cut.
When I saw BRANDY the second time I had pictures and colors to show her. She very quickly dismissed my pictures stating that she 'got it' and began coloring my hair. During the shampoo BRANDY suggested an extra conditioner for an additional $20.00 to which I agreed. BRANDY then began to cut my hair, which was the length of a short wedge. After some time BRANDY began just using the comb and scissors, doing a scissors over comb cut. When I was turned around to face the mirror my hair was 1/4 of an inch on the back and sides and 7" on the top. I was numb, I tipped her $40.00 paid my $140.00 bill and bought product!
I had some shopping to do, but considered going home and hiding! At that point I had not even gone to thinking about the $200.00 plus I was out or why was it that I had purchased product but my hair was GONE!!! Oh, AND MY HAIR WAS STILL THREE COLORS!!!
In the next day or two I called PRODIGY to speak with BRANDY but another associate called me and offered me an appointment in 3-4 days with BRANDY. I gladly accepted the offer in order to restyle my hair but also in order for BRANDY to LEARN. So for the second time in 1/2 a week I made the forty five minute drive to PRODIGY arriving fifteen minutes early, to be told that BRANDY was running behind from her client before me so her associate ( I have forgotten her name but she was great!) would take fifteen to correct my hair. Well of couse this absolutely deserved a tip, $20.00....my hair blended better but MY HAIR WAS STILL THREE COLORS!!!! PRODIGY was closed the next couple of days so I called first thing Tuesday morning and left a message thanking them for their efforts but my hair was awful and requesting a refund. I received a call from JESSA, a co-owner the same day asking for the chance to personally ATTEMPT to correct my hair. So..for the third time in SIX days I made the drive in order to let them fix my first visit. JESSA finally made my HAIR ONE COLOR which was great and she did blend my hair quite a bit. I did not feel any tip was needed because I had already decided to NOT BILL THEM mileage and time. We hugged, I left still minus a...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreHad a consultation with the team leader a month prior to my appointment. My hair was supposed to be brown all over with navy blue highlights. My hair came out pitch black and you can't see the highlights. After I got home I called the salon and spoke with the team leader, she offered for me to come back in for a clarifying shampoo or that they would provide me with a clarifying shampoo. I explained to her that I don't live close, plus I had to be back at work. No discount, explanation or apology offered. For $185 and almost 3 hour's later I should have been happy with my experience. I won't be returning or recommending this place.
Update: so they reached out to me because of my Google review and I wanted to share with you their reply's. I did ask for a refund which they are refusing, I also asked to speak with owner/manager which they are also refusing.
Prodigy Salon: Our complimentary consultation is a gathering of information where the guest(you) describes and shows your desired color and the stylist will let our guest know if it is an obtainable goal and what steps may be involved. We then schedule a reservation and offer a price estimate. Although your desires may be obtainable, working with chemicals can have a different reaction than intended and in this case took too dark and the blue didnāt show up.Customer service is important to Prodigy salon and we feel we made several good faith attempts to resolve the challenges you had. We have now offered twice to have you come back in the salon to adjust your color complimentary and you have refused. We will not be issuing any refunds.
Me: So, what I'm hearing is that the original consult was of no value because your staff failed to deliver the results promised, waste of time for anyone. What on earth would make me believe I would receive what I asked for if I had come back a 2nd time? The original product wasn't even close. Does the person who wrote your last response have a name? If so please reply in kind. I wish to correspond directly with their direct supervisor. Name, email and phone number.
Prodigy Salon: You have been speaking with the front desk supervisor this whole time. Again Prodigy salon has made several good faith attempts to resolve this challenge. We are not going to discuss this any further and wish you well in finding a different salon to fit your needs.
Me: You mean the receptionist, membership coordinator. I would like the name and email address of owner/co-owner. I don't believe you guys made "good faith attempts to resolve this challenge" if that was the case you would have fixed the issue before I even left the salon. I paid for blue highlights, which I did not receive. I paid for brown all over which I did not receive. I'm not being unreasonable and am only asking you guys to make right what you did wrong.
Prodigy Salon: Prodigy Ownership is aware of this situation and the response is the same, there will be no refund and no...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI recently moved here from Virginia and was so nervous to try a new place. I am very picky about my hair and from the moment I called to make an appointment, everyone was absolutely wonderful. So nice and pleasant. Natalie cut my hair and she did an incredible job! We cut a lot off and she was awesome! So professional and talented, and a pleasure to talk to. I will absolutely be going back and recommending her.
EDIT: Iāve been going to this salon for THREE YEARS and loved it so much I even bring my kids for hair cuts. Iāve seen two stylists here that I think are incredible at what they do.
I have four kids and my husband works and travels a lot. I made, and unfortunately had to cancel two appointments because my kids were really sick. I called today to try and schedule an appointment now that my kids are healthy and they said the stylist is now refusing to see me because of my two āno showsā I corrected her and said they werenāt no shows, I called and cancelled. And they were late notice cancellations yes, but life happens and it is truly disappointing to have a stylist I loved and thought I had a good relationship with, and bring my kids to, not understand that. Nor do I understand the stylist herself not calling me to tell me herself she no longer wanted me and my kids as a client, I had to find out from the receptionist when I called to make an appointment.
I also understand the stylists time is valuable, but Iām not just a cancelled appointment, Iām a mom and a person. They told me Iām welcome to see another stylist but I honestly feel really uncomfortable even going back now with the possibility of seeing the stylist that is refusing appointments with me, and Iām hurt that a stylist I really liked wonāt see me anymore because of a situation I didnāt have control over. Itās...
