After searching for a Curio for days, i gave up. I went to Michael’s to get ornaments and found a curio, amongst other machines, behind the counter. One of the cashiers were gracious enough to deem it sold as i walked around the store. This item is on clearance for $119.00 and it was the last one. When i got home, i immediately opened my box to find that it was used. I was furious! The cutting mat was used so badly that it would not lay flat on the machine. I could see where the last person used and abused it. I spoke with manager, Toni, who was respectful and she told me that she would find a mat that MAY fit the curio, (not sold in Michaels stores). I thanked Toni and told her i would come to the store on 12.6.17 to size another mat. Great woman! Anyway, i tried cutting a monogram to see if there was anything else wrong, and guess what, the blade wouldn’t cut. I called the store back and spoke with Beverly. After explaining the issue more than 10 times, Beverly stated that she would call other stores in my area to see if they had them and would give me a call right back. 35 minutes went by, no call. By then, I’m frustrated and went to the store. I went to a cashier that happily refunded me. But, i am still out of a machine. I wanted to speak with Beverly face to face, especially since i haven’t heard back from her. Beverly goes on to say that they should not have refunded my money because it is a clearance item. But, Beverly, clearly it was refunded before me. That ticked me off...bad. I spent $119.00 on a machine that barely worked. Not once did the website or store indicate that machines were “as is” or on clearance due to physical damage. She stated that the item was on clearance because it was damaged. I asked if they could have another machine shipped from another store and she stated that they don’t like shipping from other stores because of the possibility of the machine getting damaged. I expressed my need for the machine and nothing was done. No apologies, no LOGICAL explanation, and no customer satisfaction. Indeed, i received my refund, BUT it’s the principle. Now, I’m out of a machine. As a loyal customer to Michaels, i feel that the situation could be handled differently. instead, i was given reasons or why it shouldn’t have been...

Read moreI've been to a lot of art stores, a lot. This particular Michael's is pretty good for the area, It has a much better selection of paints paper and canvases than the Hobby Lobbys in the area and a pretty good craft selection. Folks working their frame department are very good they just don't have a very big selection of mats which can be frustrating if you have something specific in mind. They have a pretty big baking section and a wedding section so if you're looking to DIY a small reception or family gathering or birthday this is kind of a one stop shop. They have some icing and some toppers but obviously they don't have cake mixes or whatever you'd have to get that at a grocery store. If you're looking for something for a circuit cutter or cricket cutter they have a section and they have rotating seasonal options if they don't have what you're looking for try the Joann's fabric in West Columbia, Or one of the Hobby Lobby's between those 3 stores you...
