The BEST Pizza I've had in five years... I saw this in passing and wanted to try it based on how it looked on the outside: a little hole in the wall (a small restaurant with very little advertising, simple paint job, you know know the drill). But these are the places you are looking for! This means they put all their money (hopefully) on quality ingredients and low overhead.
When we came in, we were greeted by the aroma of pizza baking in the oven. The seating is a bit cramped but it's seat yourself, the staff is friendly, and the atmosphere is throwback Italian eatery. We learned about some of the building's history and I can see it'll become one of our new favorite places that's a business but feels like home away from home.
We had a plain mini cheese pizza so we could do a true taste test. I see why La Brasca has won Best Pizza in Columbia for the past five years. The crust is so thin and crispy, yet substantial enough to support the yummy toppings. The cheese is so creamy and melty, salty and meaty. The mozzarella is fresh; I believe they make their own in house. It's the same mozzarella used on the house salad, picture your Nona's simple cheese plate but so much better.
The other pizza had all the INCLUDED toppings (prices differ depending on the ingredient). Be careful with how many toppings you add: the more you play, the more you pay $$$!!! But hey, I haven't been this satisfied since I was back home in Maryland at my favorite pizza place, and the chef there was Italian born and bred and had been making pizza in the US for decades! Needless to say, today's visit was emotional to say the least. 😂😂😂
They have gourmet cheesecake and cannolis for dessert. But I can't tell you how delicious they are just yet. I was too stuffed to even think about... OPENING MY...
Read moreMy wonderful girlfriend took me here y'day evening for our first birthday dinner together --- and my first time at LaBrasca's! The staff was very courteous, friendly and attentive; the pizza was delicious with a good flavor, but the feast de' resistance was the cheesecake! I normally don't eat desserts when I eat out, but Millie's Special Cheesecake was divine! With nuts and chocolate on top, it was well balanced and not too sweet --- just right! The next time I go there with my ladylove, I'm gonna try Millie's Oreo Cheesecake! As my girlfriend says, Millie does know how to make wonderful and delicious cheesecakes! Thanks MKL for taking me there, and a pat on the stomach with a big grin to Millie & the staff at LaBrasca's! 🌹😋😁
UPDATE: Took my two beautiful daughters there y'day evening (10-20-23) for the first time, and we weren't disappointed!!! Two of us had the individual La Brasca's Special, and an individual pepperoni for my oldest. As my dad, a retired Army food service instructor, wud say---OUTSTANDING!!! The pizzas were hot, not greasy, and flavorful. We normally don't eat thin crust pizza, but these were awesome!!! To end the pizza meal (later on), I got all three of us Millie's Cheesecake Special---Apple Caramel Cheesecake!!! It was a big piece, just sweet enough, and perfect!!! So, if your ever in the area, stop by and enjoy a pizza at La Brasca's, and don't forget a piece of Cheesecake for...
Read moreWent there for then first time and my being catastrophically disappointed is being nice. After ordering my pizza I sat to wait for it to be prepared which the pizza maker took a per made frozen crust from a refrigerator, dipped the whole piece of disc shaped dough in this open bin of sauce that was sitting on the counter than sprinkle imitation cheese from another open bin on top of the sauce and put it the oven. Another person walked from the back continuously coughing all over the place talking about Helta Skelta, Charles Manson and the race war which was totally inappropriate and never once covered his mouth or turned away from the food. All the toppings were coming out of refrigerated bags, which was taken from bags and dumped in other bins, nothing fresh at all! After spending $15.00 for a large pizza, although it was not the worst tasting pizza I would have been much better off going to the supermarket and purchasing a Red Baron frozen pizza or even dominoes which is the worst pizza ever but at least the dough isn’t frozen and I would not have known about the air Bourne cough germs. I will never ever go there again and I would suggest everyone stay clear of this place....
