Ulta Beauty — Local services in Columbia

I have always liked Ulta, but this location exceeds any other store I've been to! It's always extremely clean, well stocked with the RIGHT items, BUT it's the EMPLOYEES that make this location so special! They are always nice and very welcoming. They are extremely Knowledgeable, and if one person doesn't know how to help you, they will find another employee that can! I believe that they go about and beyond, and never feel as if they are pressuring you into buying something! I will drive past the one closer to me to go to THIS LOCATION any day!!!💯💯

💥 UPDATED 💥 I STILL STAND by my original 6of this ULTA location, and NOW I wanted to also add that Not only is this ULTA location a Great Store, but THE SALON is WONDERFUL as well. Being fairly new to a city it can be hard to find that perfect hairstylist for your particular needs. Unfortunately, I haven't had much luck since I moved down here. I don't know why I didn't think about ever trying out the Salon in ULTA before, but I was in need of a way overdue trim, and I thought highlights as well. Instead of trying to get an appointment with my old stylist in Charlotte I tried out the Salon in ULTA!! I have to say that the whole process from the booking, to the appointment, and results were seamlessly convenient, easy, and rewarding! I have been to two different ladies for services several times over the past year and they were both great! The first appointment I had was with Kat, she is an Amazing and talented woman all together! Kat was able to get me in fairly quickly, and she cut my hair exactly the way I wanted, if not better! She was a pleasure to meet, and talk to. Kat is extremely knowledgeable about all things hair, she gave me wonderful tips and (Unsolicited) advice. She didn't try to talk me into buying any certain products, but shared with me her personal favorites and why!! After my hair cut, we NOTH agreed that it wasn't time for my highlights to be touched up, but with just the trim my hair went from drab to fab!! I really appreciate her honesty, and her outstanding work! Since that first appointment I have been back more, times. I was needing my highlights touched, freshened up. Kat was not available but I was recommended to Ms. Leslie!!! It was a pleasure to meet her as well!! Ms. Leslie is a hoot, not only is she wonderfully talented at hair, but her funny, quirky, happy demeanor is CONTAGIOUS!! I had a blast laughing with her, and getting to know her.... Once again I was completely impressed with Leslie's work on my hair, trim and highlights! NOT ONLY do I recommend this ULTA location, but now I can totally recommend the SALON as well. Although I've only had two of the ladies there work on my hair, I have been able meet most of all that work there, and have seen their magic hair work as well. I would feel completely comfortable with any of the stylists putting there hands on my hair!! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS ULTA LOCATION STORE AND SALON!! I will definitely go back... I am not usually the type of person to complain at all- but I am extremely frustrated right now by the experience I had at your Salon yesterday .

I have been seeing Emily for months now, she is wonderful but I wanted to explore another option and I specifically booked with Samantha so I could experience an “elite stylist”.

Upon arrival, Samantha was getting her hair done by the salon manager and not ready for our appointment. My first question is- why was this being done during work hours? I sat down, waiting for her hair to be all curled and she then proceeded to pawn me off to ….Emily so that she could finish getting her hair curled.

Emily had another client coming in, and started my hair as a favor to Samantha and even after she completed my roots, Samantha still did not come get me- she went to get another client and continued working on her then simply clocked out, and left for the day at 4:25. My appointment was at 3:15….she didn’t even take me or speak to me at all.

She clearly double booked herself which is a huge issue in my book, and makes herself look unprofessional and unprepared. And it was unfair for Emily to now have two clients to take care of , and Emily wasn’t even able to finish my service due to another client coming in . All of this is because Samantha pawned me off

I will no longer be getting my hair done at this location. I feel completely dismissed and overlooked. The customer service was just horrible yesterday . And the fact that the Salon Manager was here, and actively participating in this behavior is ridiculous and shows that they do not take their job...

This is from a guys perspective: I wanted to get genuine cologne, not the knock off stuff sold at pop up stores, and two part shampoo and conditioner. I went in and was greeted by an employee and I explained what I needed. She showed me where the cologne was and then began to walk off. I asked again for help before she walked off and I was sort of more direct this time in asking what type of fragrance I was looking for. She told me what was popular, nothing really about a specific product, and she started to walk off again. I then called out again before she left to ask about where the hair products were. She walked me over to them and then left. I felt really out of place already since this store is mainly geared towards female products, but this made it even worse. I came to this store hoping to get expert help and advice on my questions but I guess you don't get that here as a guy. In the time I was there searching Google for my questions because I didn't get any help, I saw multiple associates helping other customers who happened to be female, but actually helping them, staying with them, and talking about the products. I don't know if the person working with me was just having an off day, and I would totally understand, or if this is just the mentality of the entire store/Ulta.
