I traveled 1 hr to this place in order to find food from my native country, Jamaica. For Jamaicans living around this area it isn't a bad place to find a few items that remind you of home. These includes sorrel, salt fish, curry powder, green banana, yam, chicken noodle etc. In addition, they sell goat meat, pork with the skin, oxtail tail etc .. These meats are at local price and arent that expensive. The imported food from Jamaica is pricey but that is to be expected. The staff on the floor and at the meat counter were fine to me . I found the cashiers to be rude. They stood chatting and laughing while I waited to be cashed . Total disregard even when cashing you,. Customer service isn't their strength but I really dont care. I got what I wanted and will go home and make some sweet Jamaican food. All in all I will go back and would recommend to any Jamaican who.would like a taste of home. Also many persons stated they charged a higher tax when you use a credit card , so I...
Read moreI purchased approximately 110 dollars worth of items including the tax. All cold foods except for two items that were only 2.99 each. I was using my ebt card for the food items. She says your total on your eat card is 89 dollars. I thought ok weird, but paid she then says 21.99 will be on your debit card. She hurried me to pay and I was trying to look why it was 22 dollars for 6 dollars worth of items. I paid and questioned her and she said well there was 8 dollars of tax and it doesnt look like one of the seasonings that you purchased is covered. I said why? Its garlic salt? Thats food. Her reply was well its just the system. Also the tax should have been deducted since using a government issued card to pay for the food. Ive noticed that when using a credit or debit card at this store I pay more tax than when paying cash. Something is off here and I'm going to report it to the department of family services as they b should not be collecting tax when using...
Read moreIt's one of the better Hispanic stores in the Columbia area. You have to be careful and check expiration dates. They have everything you could possibly need for making whatever type of food you want. The guacamole is decent but too expensive. They have a huge selection of dried herbs. I wouldn't necessarily buy meat from there because it just doesn't look that great. I go there occasionally for seasonings, guacamole or pico de gallo when I don't make my own. It could be cleaner. They have a restaurant in there as well but I can't tell you how it is because I don't plan on eating there. They have some nice looking pottery for plants and stuff, hats, etc. They also have some pots and pans if you...
