TLDR Jaina is crazy good.
I walked past the studio and it looked cozy and inviting. I checked Google reviews, saw positive comments about Jaina for curly hair and booked an appointment with her on a whim. My hair hadn’t seen a stylist in almost year and was in terrible shape. I didn’t have super high hopes because of its starting state and because practically every hair experience of my life has been upsetting and only served to highlight what I feel my hair lacks.
I went in thinking I’d get the dead ends removed and a nice pampering wash in a lovely environment at most. I walked out with my favorite cut of my life and for the first time in…decades?…I felt happy about my hair.
I should emphasize that I was completely unprepared for this appointment, so Jaina is solely responsible for this amazing result. I came with no inspo. My instagram app is deleted so I don’t know the trends. I hadn’t an inkling of what I might want. Jaina played with my sad, limp tresses for a few minutes, talked to me about my life, and came up with an idea that made so much sense but that nobody else had ever suggested before. Sitting in her chair felt like hanging with an old friend.
I’ve had so many disappointing hair styling experiences that at this point I thought it was just me and have been avoiding going to get my hair cut/done/anything because I always feel so disappointed. But not this time. Jaina changed everything. I am so lucky I found her. When I move here full time next year with my husband, I might even become one of those people who gets a trim every couple of months. That’s how amazing and happy this...
Read moreI was referred by a friend and I will say the first visit was nice. Courtney addressed my hair needs and did a nice job on my color. She did not feel well enough for a haircut that day so I did have to come back again. On my second visit, my son got very sick and needed daily injections to help fight his infection. I notified Courtney several days before (within cancellation period) and asked if I should reschedule or if should could still fit me in since I would have to be late due to my sons illness/daily injection needs. She told me to come in and she could still fit me in. Unfortunately that was not true. I went for my appt and she was able to do my color but did not have time for the usual bowl treatment/haircut or blow dry. I left with wet hair and no cut but she charged me the full amount. The whole time I was there I thanked her for fitting me in and she even mentioned that it was no big deal bc she hopes others will be understanding when she has kids one day. That was all lost on me once she charged me the full amount for the services I did not receive. Pretty disappointing. I will...
Read moreI came to Jaina during a recent trip to Columbus ready for a big change to my long, dense wavy hair. It was heavy, had no layers, and felt lifeless. I told her I didn’t want anything too shaggy, I just wanted more movement on top and to really let the bottom layers come alive with waves.
She really listened and approached my hair like a sculptor working with a block of marble! The result is my favorite haircut in at least two decades. It’s completely bespoke and makes my long wavy hair look amazing and easy to manage. I’ve been using her recommended products to go back and forth between more defined curls and waves and a brushed out looser, laid-back look. I love it every single day.
I will literally keep flying across the country just to have Jaina cut my hair. It’s been a long time since I’ve had a stylist actually hear what I was trying to say and translate it so beautifully. If you have wavy hair and want something effortless and compliment worthy, go to Jaina. I can’t recommend her enough. She’s a true...
