In October of 2020 I noticed a lot of noise and activity coming from directly outside my apartment window from maintenance workers. When I went to speak to the front desk about it they assured me it was temporary while they were doing improvements to the apartments. So figuring this was short term I did my best to accomodate.
After those three months were up in January of 2021 the noise continued. Starting at 730 am going well into the evening including Saturdays and sometimes Sundays. It was really taking a toll on my sleep as I work nightshift as a nurse.
The noise consists of people talking, maintenance radios, several golf carts going in and out all day long, personal conversations, disagreements between workers, and shop talk.
I went to the office to ask again how long they thought it would be.
To which I got a different answer: they decided make the bottom of my apartment complex a storage unit/office for maintenance and this was going to be a permanent change.
She told me I could go to the office and speak to Jason the supervisor over at maintenance about this issue. I went to the office and there were two women at the front desks who greeted me I explained why I was there very calmly and respectfully.
I never spoke with Jason, I was told that he would tell me the same thing they were telling me which was, "there was nothing they could do." One of the ladies told me they park their golf carts there and asked me "Where do you expect us to park them?"
So at this point I just went back to the main office.
I explained this noise was unacceptable to which the woman said she could change apartments for me if I wanted and would waive the fee to move between apartments. They did not offer any help with moving expenses or offer any compensation in that fashion which I think they should considering the circumstances however I do not know typical protocols for such issues. I do not have a support system that includes ppl able to help me move so I would have to hire someone to do so which is a significant inconvenience financially. After taking some time to consider all my options I went back to the office. I was told an apartment wouldn't be available until June. I said okay.
It is the end June now I have been up to the office several times and left my apartment number asked for supervisors been given supervisors numbers, called those numbers (never answered left messages with my name apartment number and issue) and gotten ZERO correspondence or follow through from anyone.
At this point, to this day, our particular complex constantly has maintenance workers walking through our entryways, talking loudly, parking golf carts in our parking spaces, and even parking their personal trucks in our parking spaces. (photos below minus personal vehicles bc they deserve privacy) To this day directly underneath my bedroom window there are consistently golf carts beeping loudly, driving through gravel, general maintenance noises, talking, yelling, laughing, personal conversations, arguments, equipment loading and unloading, despite the 20 (at the least) respectful requests made to keep the noise down. I have literally opened my window and asked the workers myself to please be quiet as I work night shift. I am literally living on top of a maintenance work shop and pay a ridiculous amount of money to be disturbed all hours of the day and even sometimes but rarely at night (im assuming for on call issues)
There are more details, dates, photos and videos. I will upload the videos via YouTube and post the link when I can but I want to blur the faces first. I could go on and on but I hope this is enough to deter anyone from having to go through the awful experience and management issues I have encountered.
Anyone will be nice to you and friendly when trying to get you into an apartment. Thats how they get their income. Once you're in the lease do not expect that same energy because you...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreDonāt move into these awful apartments! We are a military couple and have been living here for about 11 months. And believe me when I say the initial charm of this place wears off in about a week! The staff in the office was just about rude upon move in! They talk down to you like you are too stupid to understand. The first time I had mail in the office I received it about 3 months later because they lost it in their violently unorganized mail room. Not to mention these were important medical records needed to get medical attention for an injury. The maintenance constantly enters your home with hardly a dayās warning. And the security the boast about? What security?! I havenāt seen any security save for the occasional police officer driving to his apartment! Since Iāve been here there have been at least two home burglary announcements taped to my door when I return home. Comforting isnāt it? Half the time Iām worried that while my military husband is away I might get robbed! So to solve that security issue I get a dog. We got him when heās about 2 months old. Heās now about 6 months old and while walking him I am approached by an office lady in her heals and business skirt walking out back where we let our dogs play, (rather than the abandoned and poorly kept tennis court they claim to be a dog park), like she was watching for me and my neighbor to come out and let our dogs play. She comes out of nowhere and naturally all the dogs begin to bark. When my big puppy barks at her he runs from her and stands defensively at my side. The first thing she says is āyou need to have your dogs on leashes at all times.ā Even though this is practically our own back yard and all of the dogs are non-aggressive. Then she turns on my shepherd mix, who looks almost completely shepherd minus the coat, saying āwe need to know if thatās a pit mix. I can see he is almost solid pit and we donāt allow such dangerous and killer dogs in our neighborhood.ā To which I replied, āhe is a shepherd mix, Iām not sure what he is mixed with but we suspect its not pit.ā Then she demands I take him to a vet and get a genealogy exam t find out what he is bred with. Honestly?! Like thatās an everyday, cheep test to get done on a dog! That same night my puppies are playing out back in the dark with other neighborās puppy when my dog starts to bark and gets in front of me and her. And what do we see? A group of about 5 or 6 thugs that we have never seen before walking through our back yard area between the apartments! I can tell you my dog served his purpose when those thugs moved faster to get away from us. The back area is so badly lit that we hadnāt even seen them. Howās that sound for secure?! Not to mention most of these apartment are violently over priced and poorly kept. Most of the appliances I have seem to be from the 70ās! the office staff are rude and stuck up. So when I go in to report a dead and leaking water heater they look at me like itās my fault it died and take at least 2 days to get to fixing the carpet it damaged. And with the recent holiday of Halloween, I can tell you we got very little trick-or-treaters due to the lack of lighting around the whole complex. Not to mention t get your apartment put on the ātrick-or-treating mapā you had to sign up for it. Neither I nor any of my neighbors were informed of this! Nor was anyone else in this damned complex that doesnāt work here! All in all Whisperwood is not a place to be! Itās only about 5 minutes from the prison as well. There are nicer, larger, and cheaper apartments and communities that can be found. So no matter how nice the landscaping and that big waterfall pool are (which is too cold to get in year round) I strongly suggest you look elsewhere especially across the river. Basically, the further you can get away from...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreAfter living here for over a year I wanted to rewrite my review on living here. I am not sure if the apartments got new management but it is like night and day compared to when we first moved here. I originally gave them one star but they definitely deserve better.
The area around the community is kept free of trash and the greenery is tidy. The sidewalks are a bit annoying because you have to continuously cross the street to stay on the sidewalk. People drive dumb fast through the neighborhood even with the speed bumps so donāt walk in the road. The pools are usually very clean even though we are still only allowed to use two of them (been almost a year since closing the other ones due to people not following the rules.) We avoid the pools during busy times because parents canāt control their kids and my toddler has almost been hurt. People still proceed to jump over the fence and invite way too many people in that more than likely donāt live here. The gates at the front still get driven through and broke but it has gotten better. Iām 90% the cameras at the gates donāt work so people just proceed to smash through them. I used to have a huge problem with the valet garbage not picking up my trash but it has since improved. What I donāt understand is how if they refuse to pick up your garbage on days they are supposed to get it and you leave it out during duty hours, youāll still get charged $25. š charge Valet Garbage for not doing their job. Maintenance is hit and miss. They shut the water off A LOT and no one pushes out an email or anything (if anything) till about an hour or so after the water has been shut off. Donāt even bother calling the front office, no one answers the phones still. Sometimes they call back if youāve called them a few times. Some police officers live in the area so crime isnāt too terrible. My car has been dinged a few times but that is bound to happen with the parking lots being as full as they are. They are updating the playgrounds which is very much needed! No more wooden playgrounds = no more wasps. The dog poop is a PROBLEM. OMG. donāt bother walking through any of the grass unless you want dog poop on your shoes.
Our apartment has had quite a few minor problems but maintenance has mostly fixed all of them. The water is pretty gross at times. The hot water sometimes has this nasty black dust-like residue in it. Not sure when the last time the hot water heater was flushed out. They replaced the air filter on our HVAC system recently. Heating and cooling in the apartment has been alright. Since the sensor is in the living room, the bedrooms wonāt be as hot or as cold as the living room area which is a given but sometimes itās a 6-10 degree difference. We had to get a heater for our sonās room because it just wouldnāt stay warm in the winter. We donāt have any animals but our apartment will smell like cat litter every now and then. Iām sure the pet dander and smell is just clinging to these carpets even though you have to get them professionally cleaned before you move out. There are laundry rooms here but I highly recommend (if you can) to just get your own washer and dryer. Iāve had the washers and dryers here take my money and then not work. Since they arenāt owned by the apartments and owned by a private company it was just about impossible to get the money back. Some people complain about their packages being stolen or misplaced but Iāve never had an issue.
The location here has been great. Itās close to downtown Columbus and everything we need. We are about 10 mins away from everything important like the library or Aldiās. 30 mins from Fort Benning. 5 mins from Walmart and Publix. 2 mins from Chik fil a, circle K, Waffle House, Walgreens, a sushi...
