Please read this and all other reviews. Jerry is a nice and friendly guy but I will never do business with him again. I took my computer to him for fresh eyes to check it over. That’s not what I got. He made stuff up to justify what he charged me. He will not give a refund when one is due. I even agreed with a partial refund but he made up some new fees to keep more of my money. He said his fee was $65 to diagnose what was wrong with my computer. But I was charged for an operating system that I can’t use and didn’t need. He should have known that. I even said something about that this computer said that operating system (windows 11) wouldn’t work. I thought, ok maybe he knows something I don’t and let him install the OS. I get it home and it stops responding and starts freezing up no matter what I did. I should have listened to my gut and not let him do anything to my computer. I told him the next day that this wasn’t working for this computer and sent him a photo of the issues. Told him I would like a refund. He left me on read for 2 days. He messaged me back on the 3rd day trying to get me to use the OS on a different computer. I don’t need that software. I don’t have another computer that I need it for. I find it funny that he charged me for software that is free for anybody to upgrade to as long as you have windows 10 and I did. So after a full day of messaging back and forth he decided to give me part of my money back. I told him that’s not going to work for me. Then he gives me this list of things he is charging me for. Things I didn’t even ask for. I told him I didn’t know anything about these other things he was charging me for. I told him, fine, I was good with a partial refund because he spent a little time with my computer (2 hours). He didn’t even diagnose what was wrong with it but I still agreed to pay the $65 fee and he could refund me $85. After that I sent him 3 messages and he left me on read again. The next day I messaged him asking about the rest of the refund. He messaged backing with some lies. The reason I know what he said was a lie is because I myself had this computer open before I took it to him. He said that my motherboard “had dirt all over it” but I know that’s not true. He also said “your fan was clogged up and your operating system (windows 10) was corrupted with viruses” but I know that’s not true either. I had just scrubbed and reformatted that hard drive before I installed a clean Windows 10 on it. It had nothing but the OS on it. I feel like I was being fair in the refund I wanted, which he did eventually refund the remaining $35. This horrible experience cost me $65 I didn’t really have. I thought I was dealing with somebody who really cared and that could really help me. I learned something new from this, always read ALL the reviews. If I had just read down the review list, I would have never gone to him. Lesson learned. And in case you are wondering, yes, I do know a thing or two about computers. I am a certified computer support specialist. No, I don’t know everything because I am human and still learning new things every day. What did I learn new from this? I won’t trust Jerry again. Oh and I expect him to come back with a response to this review with something...
Read moreSecond time taking computer to Jerry Whitaker for repair. Trusted him this time as he knew I was unhappy with previous service so he offered to repair for free. When I first asked him about this he didn’t want to honor his word but did after I offered to pay him a little. (Said he needed cash).
Once again he sold me a hard drive that was not new. This has been confirmed with manufacturer of both hard drives. Seems to be common practice (see BBB reviews).
Claimed he put software on computer and it’s not there. Additional hardware I took that he would need to install a program I need is no longer working. He told me he “cracked the code” and installed the newest edition on my computer. Wrong. He installed the free trial versions of EVERYTHING he installed and heard now expired.
Was never around for pick up when he claimed he would be. Only wanted cash. Later told me he could take a card (which I knew he could as that’s how I paid him a year ago and I saw the credit card processor in his office.).
Promised a follow up phone call when I began to question things and I never received it. He then blocked my husband and myself on Facebook. Husband finally called him from a different number and Jerry answered and pretty much admitted he didn’t sell me a new hard drive. We have been waiting a response from him that he promised and have yet to hear from him.
We will be pursuing legal action.
Update to his response: he failed to follow through with concern about newness of hard drive.
There’s no spite (word is spite Jerry, not despite) or anger. It’s simply letting you know you never followed up. There have been ZERO follow up calls (you said many). You story...
