I expected more from Barnes and Noble who calls themselves the TN Tech Bookstore. Our first attempt to navigate their store led to a lot of confused untrained employees and no actual books on their shelves. This was during the week of welcome. We were told the books had just not come in yet, that theu were sitting in a Nashville warehouse, but not to worry because all the other kids did not have their books either. We were sold digital copies for the same price, except you only have access to it for 180 days VS owning a actual book. We were also sold digital content that did not match his curriculum. They repeatedly swore it was for both classes (1110 and 1210 etc) the digital code was given in seal envelopes. Open the envelope and no return. We straightened everything out except one chemistry Lab code. I Visited my son and took the unopened envelope to Barnes and Nobles TN Tech book store and showed it to the original person who sold it to us a week before. I have not experienced that level of disdain and eye rolling as I then received as I was told “yes that is exactly what he needs, open it, use the code and it will be fine. When it was needed my son opened the envelope and the code was not for that class. His words were we lost our money. My personal experiences are that the bookstore could care less if we got the correct books we needed as long as they could go back to sitting. I followed their exact directions and lost $. I am kinda embarrassed of TN Tech’s need to have Barnes and Nobles run their book store (badly). No longer are there used books to buy or your new books to sell back. You rent their used books and if they aren’t returned you get charged full price. Digital media with access for 180 days for the same price of having physical books that are yours? A reference you will always have? Shame on you TN Tech. I love so much about you,...
Read moreI am really disappointed with the bookstore's lack of student support. I payed $130 to order a book from the bookstore a week ago. I had to call to check on the status since I have yet to receive an update on my order. I was told that they were not able to get my book and I would have to come in for a refund. Since I paid with my debit card, they would not give me my refund in cash to purchase the book I need elsewhere. I will have to wait until the money is put back on my card. Now I will be getting my book later than expected and spent a lot of wasted time trying to get the book from the bookstore. The most disappointing part is that the bookstore wanted to blame my professor for the issue for picking an older edition, but never thought to apologize for their misinformation or the fact they had me pay them for something they...
Read moreJust to be absolutely honest: you will not find a good deal on anything here. It's kind of like one of those ground floor supermarkets in a nice hotel. They have things you might want and you might get them very conveniently, but we all know you'd be much better served finding a WalMart. That being said, the staff here are pretty helpful and you are usually in and out without any trouble if you're picking up/dropping off textbooks. If you're in a pinch, they do have the essentials like cold/flu medicine, toothpaste, granola bars, etc. You can also get Tech...
