Roots Salon — Local services in Cookeville

I've been going to Roots for over a year, and I cannot say enough good things about this place - Wonderful atmosphere, sweet and welcoming staff, complimentary drinks (water, tea, and coffee all free!), and the skill of the stylists.

A few months ago, I decided to embrace my true style (colorful and chaotic, I'd say it's more scene if you need an exact theme) because not expressing myself by wearing all black wasn't doing me any favors. I asked for racoon stripes with my hair since I've always wanted them. I expected negative reactions due to how out there it was, but I never had this many compliments in my LIFE. AJ was my stylist, and she knocked it out of the ballpark. When I came back in for a touch up, she said she was trying a different technique for the stripes since she saw a video on how to do my hair better. She did homework for my hair! She's very dedicated to making her customers happy. AJ is also very easy to talk to, and I can talk to her for the entire hair dyeing process.

I've had to see other stylist for trims when she isn't available but they nail it too! Speaking of another stylist, she gave me a complimentary bang trim today. She did so well!

I'm so happy I found this place. I genuinely look forward to...

Edit: The owner Emily contacted me after me posting my review, and she was absolutely wonderful! She listen to my experience and she was very understanding on why I was so disappointed. She made sure to correct the issues, and invited me back. She hooked me up with a new stylist and it was a perfect fit. She did an absolutely fabulous job, and I am so excited to go back. Thank you for listening and hooking me up with a wonderful stylist and experience!

This was my daughter's and I first time coming to this salon. I was supposed to have a consultation and my daughter eye brow waxing. The receptionist upon arrival was very friendly and welcoming, she checked us in and told us it would be a hand full of mins and our stylist would be with us..our appointment time was at 6:00, well we did not get seen until 6:20, then the so call consultation to me wasn't at all what I expected, she wasn't very helpful at all. While I was trying to explain what I wanted I was interrupted, which I thought was rude, then I felt very rushed. She wasn't friendly, she didn't talk to us really, and she made us feel very out of place. Needlessly to say we will be taking our business elsewhere and will not return...

Considering the amount of money I’ve spent at this salon, I’ve had some positive experiences but Andrea totally ruined my 260 hair color, and recommended I come back and pay 180 more for golden highlights- Emily stepped in and had Maddie correct that coloring total horrible experience of turning my hair ash brown grey dead mouse color. Maddie did a great job. But I won’t be back. Due to this salon being rude. I don’t recommend it: I spent hours getting my hair ruined - 5.5 house I’d guess, and another 4.5 hours correcting it. I had to tip twice, the second speeding to fix it on top of my 4.5 hours to sit there again….to fix my hair color which came out more blonde than strawberry. This salon has no respect for your time. At all. And don’t get sick and have to reschedule - why spend 260 plus a tip to be treated so poorly. Not Worth It. I tried to be positive and kind to this salon and forgiving for costing me so stress time and money because Maddie and Emily fixed my hair.
