Only giving this 5 stars because it won't post with 1 star, and my story is more important than my rating. This is by far the worst experience I've ever had at any store. Going into an adult store can be intimidating enough, but it is especially intimidating because I have a disability that makes it hard to understand certain social cues and body language. I walked in with a group of friends and realized I'd forgotten my id, so I walked out to my car to get it. On the door of the store there are signs posted that you must be 18+ to enter, but nothing about needing to immediately walk up to the front counter once you enter to show your id. I walked back in and joined my friends. As they walked over to something else and I stayed behind, the lady at the front (I assume the owner, based on what others have told me) came up to me and told me " I need to see some ID. You have to come to the front to show me your ID. There aren't enough workers for me to follow you around the store." I profusely apologized and turned to meet her at the front desk. I got a few feet before two things happened simultaneously: I realized she was not following me, and I hear her say "you need to leave. Get out now." I turned back to her with my ID in my hand, showing it to her, with another apology ready for misunderstanding her, but I was cut off with "No, just get out!" Obviously I turned away and walked out of the store. She told my friends that she had kicked me out and that she had asked me four times for my ID, but clearly she did not. She also continued to complain to them about how it's so hard to ID everyone, as if they were going to take her side? I will never go back here again and will highly discouraged anyone from ever going to this store. Why would you open a business of any kind if you can't be at least cordial with your customers? Why would you choose to be so rude and hateful to someone for no reason? I understand they have the right to remove anyone from their store, and I respect that right. But I do think it's ridiculous to kick people out over nothing. I could also understand her annoyance if there was a sign at the door stating you must immediately show your id to the employee at the register, but that isn't the case. You can't just assume people know what to do, or assume people can read your mind. To conclude, this place is not accommodating to people with my disability and the owner is very rude. Not just rude on a customer/employee basis, but also just as a person. It'd be best to stay at home and buy much cheaper stuff online, or have a much better experience at the love shack on Broad St. near cane creek. I cannot stress how horrible of a time I had here, 0/10 would not...
Read moreI would put a 0 if I could. I wasn't bothered by the store itself, but by the woman in the store that is keeping Red Eared Slider turtles in a small bowl/dish. What those animals are living in is completely inappropriate. Each turtle should have a minimum of 30 gallons, there needs to be a filter (one turtle has an abscess due to the lack of filtration in the water and bacteria build up)
There's also no UVA or UVB lights set up which would help A LOT when it comes to keeping those poor turtles alive and healthy. UVB IS NEEDED TO METABOLIZE CALCIUM TO KEEP THEM FROM DEVELOPING METABOLIC BONE DISEASE.
I don't care that this woman has "had turtles for 12 years," the way they are being kept is wrong and considered neglect by husbandry standards. If you love animals don't shop here unless you want to go in a make a complaint like I did.
That's all I wanted to say, by the way if you are the one with the turtles working at this store and you're reading this, remember... "you can google it yourself." PLEASE LEARN TO TAKE CARE OF YOUR TURTLES PROPERLY.
Sincerely, Someone who owns a red eared slider (which lives in a nice, big filtered pond outside), a box turtle, 3 snakes, 3 bearded dragons, a goldfish, a beta fish, 2 dogs, a rat,...
Read moreI haven't been in this store in years because the one over on West Broad offers much better customer service/friendly employees. When I would shop this store in the past, employees seemed bothered that I was there, the security guy always followed me around and I didn't appreciate it. I understand you have to watch for thieves but you don't have to literally stay a foot from me the entire time I'm shopping. Anyways, I decided to give them another try today because they have a huge selection and it was closer to work so had time to go on my break. The man working was super friendly, I even addressed the issues I had in the past and in a polite way, he explained proper protocol for the store including security, which I thought was very professional and courteous. We shared point of views on the particular situation and understood each others concerns which, was the most anyone in this store has ever even attempted to interact with me. I appreciated the customer service offered this go around and also appreciate that the owner shares his number for comments and concerns. I forgot the phone number or would call directly but it seems they keep an eye on reviews here. If you've been treated poorly here before, give them...
