If you have an option, do NOT do business with CoServ Electric. This company has horrible customer service, and they will shamelessly lie to you in order to extort money you don’t owe. When I moved into my house in Frisco around May 2015, CoServ was the only electricity provider, so I had no choice. Upon signing up with CoServ, I elected to receive my monthly bills via email, and I received an email on 06/08/2015 with subject “Welcome to your CoServ myecogridaccount!” When given the option, I always elect to receive bills via email because I can keep forward them to my wife, put them in my “Bills” folder, and have access to them anytime I might need them in the future. Next, CoServ sent me an email on 06/17/2015 with subject “CoServ E-Notice June 2015” and an embedded link that said “View/Pay Your June Bill” that took me to the CoServ website where I could access my bill. I paid my June bill and assumed I would receive my monthly bills the same way every month.
This is where things took a turn for the worse. CoServ did not send me emails notifying me of monthly bills for July, August, September, or October. I didn’t realize I wasn’t getting the emails because my wife was diligently logging into the CoServ website regularly and paying our bill, even though we weren’t receiving paper statements in the mail either. Of course, as you can imagine, CoServ’s failure to send monthly statements eventually resulted in the electric bill not getting paid for October and November, so CoServ shut off my electricity WITHOUT NOTICE on 12/07/2015. Immediately after the lights went out, my wife called CoServ to report the outage and was informed that our electricity had been disconnected. My wife conferenced me into the phone call with the CoServ representative and, with the representative on the phone, I searched my Gmail for every email containing the word “CoServ.” I told the customer representative I had received exactly two emails, one on 06/08/2015 and another on 06/17/2015. The representative insisted that I had received emails every month and told me she could see where the emails were sent by CoServ and received by me. On a side note, I should mention here that I always check my “Spam” folder before I delete the contents, so I know the emails weren’t going into that folder. Obviously, I didn’t appreciate being called a liar by someone who had no firsthand knowledge about whether or not the emails were sent or received, but I was getting nowhere. This lady’s job was obviously not to resolve problems; her job was to extort money from people who made the mistake of doing business with CoServ.
My wife and I both told the representative that we had also not received a disconnect notice, but, again, the representative said she could see where it was sent to us and not returned to CoServ. We had absolutely NOT received a disconnect notice, otherwise WE WOULD HAVE PAID THE BILL TO AVOID A DISCONNECTION! Eventually, this con-artist was able to extract an additional $177.90 from us, above and beyond the amounts of our unpaid bills, in order to get our electricity reconnected. You read that right -- $177.90 above and beyond the amount we owed before they cut our electricity off without notice. To make matters worse, we received the disconnect notice AFTER our electricity had been reconnected, so, in other words, CoServ sent the disconnect notice after our call with the representative in an attempt to cover its tracks. Plus, I started receiving CoServ emails again AFTER our electricity had been reconnected, so the same representative who basically called me a liar must’ve reported the problem so CoServ could fix it after the fact. Honestly, I think CoServ’s conduct rises to the level of actionable fraud, so I’m just waiting to jump onboard the next class action lawsuit against CoServ for deceptive/dishonest trade practices. Again, if you have an option, do NOT do business with...
Read moreThis is in response to Coserv.’s responding to my complaint. The company did reach out to me and I missed their call on two occasions I returned their call. They never left a direct number which left me to call their regular line and go through several channels and could never reach anyone directly. But I did try to reach out. But before doing so I noticed I received an adjustment on my bill. But funny thing is my bill should have never been the amount that I was charged anyway seeing that I had not been there for over 40 days. And that was not the first time that had happened and they did nothing about it until I made a formal complaint through reviewing them. This company is very much aware that they are operating in a disingenuous manner. My bill that I receive was Adjusted after this review. I had called numerous of times With my concerns about being overcharged before. I even explained that I do not keep any of my electric items that does not have to be plugged up plug like washer and dryer lamps toasters coffee pots TVs. All things stay unplugged other than a stove microwave and a refrigerator. But my complaints consistently went on deaf years and I was still being charged for times that I was not in my home while away on business, Unfortunately I never put in a formal review online. They are the only service that you can use within that city so if you had a problem. Where else were you going to go for your electricity needs. I am pretty sure that I am not the only one who has experienced issues such as this with Coserv. . I am pretty certain that there are many people who are completely dissatisfied with this companies fraudulent practices. But due to the agreement with that city,. Coserv being the only electricity provider. They are unable to go anywhere else without moving out of that city. . And as I stated, before, I would never want to live in that city again as a direct result of this company’s practices.*•! I am giving this company one star because there was not an option for a negative star. This is one of the worst money grabbing companies that I've had to deal with. Unfortunately, I was forced to deal with them due to the fact that they were the only electric service that I can use with the city/complex that I moved to. If I would have known about the terrible service I would rather forgo on my living quarters as to not to deal with this company.. As I've had many exasperated fraudulent bill charges. I have found that they charge whatever they feel like it no matter what your usage is or not. I went on a few business trips where I was gone for over 30 to 40 days just to have a bill the following month which was higher or comparable to my previous bills when I was actually not at the house.. Unfortunately, speaking with Customer Service was a waste of time to resolve this matter as this happened on several occasions. So I feel that they are very much aware of their fraudulent practices. Customer Service reps come across as pleasant. But all complaints or concerns with this company fall on deaf ears. I have since moved. Given my experience with this company. If I were purchasing or renting a home within an area that only utilizes the services of COSERV. I would walk away from purchasing a home or renting any property in that area. I'm not sure where they are getting some of these reviews very well may be employees/family/friends trying to soften the blow of the service with this company....
Read moreI've had to deal with Coserv off and on since 2007. I try to find housing that Coserv does not service. It's sad that my place of residence is determined by Coserv service areas. When searching for affordable rent for me and my 3 kids, the only places I found were serviced by this company. I will admit, they have made some progress since 2007, when I bought my first home. At that time, I felt like the same person always answered the phone and constantly recited their policy. Lately it seems they may have hired more people. They now have an "overflow" department that takes calls when call volume increases. Unfortunately, this new department knows nothing about anything and can only take a message for you or take a payment. You want to make someone frustrated? Route them to this department. I promise you, you won't be disappointed. For customers like me who are on a tight budget, this can be frustrating to not be able to get someone who can give answers. Their solution is to offer resources to get financial help from churches. How about lowering your prices as a solution, Coserv?? My bills are crazy expensive and no one is home from 7am-5pm. Literally makes zero sense. We don't leave lights on when we leave and literally the only thing that should be using any power is our refrigerator and WiFi router. Anyway, Coserv is Coserv. If you can buy or rent some place that gives you the option to choose your provider, go there. Avoid Coserv at all costs! We are human and all have different financial situations and circumstances. Many of us still in survival mode since Covid. Coserv literally does not care about your life. This company knows that they have the upper hand when it comes to electric providers, since they wanna play Monopoly and buy up everything Texas. I will say though, they have helped with payment extensions, but want me to pay with real money not Monopoly money. Anyway, it was like pulling teeth to even get that extension. I'm looking for a long term solution for my account, not just band-aids. I'd like to have a amicable relationship with Coserv but they make it almost impossible and I feel like they want "No New Friends". I wanna know who is leaving all these 5 star reviews because we can't possibly be talking about the same company.
Would give zero stars if I could. And after reading some other reviews, I'm shocked at the fact that they don't care about your privacy either. They are flat out giving a response to your review with detailed information about your specific account! What a shame. Coserv, you can't...
