Dream Color & Extensions — Local services in Cortland

If I could title this review it would be "Pony Tails and Regrets." I thought long and hard about writing this, because I am usually not one to complain. But I figured if Nicki C. was cool with me leaving the salon like this after working on my hair, then she would be fine with me posting the results of her work too. The one photo was my reference photo. The other photo was taken directly after leaving the salon once home. Nicki told me that it may take two sessions to achieve my desired result to be fair. However, I got a haircut as well and that looks nothing like my photo either. It doesn't even look like she did much at all honestly except make my hair worse than when I walked in. It had been two years since I had my hair cut and colored. I had at least nine to twelve inches of virgin hair that was pretty close to the color of the roots of my reference photo. As you can see the color that resulted (which is supposed to be the balayage) that I left with is nothing like a balayage. I had asked for her to match my roots so it would grow out better, and instead she used the darkest brown possible. I am severely disappointed because I spent over $150.00 of my hard earned money on something that I had waited two years to have done because of Covid, etc. I knew before I left that I was going to be disappointed, but it is so dark in the salon you can't really see how bad it all is until you get someone to help you see your hair with a photo in better light. Not only did my hair look like severe amateur hour, but she left dye all over my ears and neck. She was running late for my appointment, and because of that I think it escalated. She told me she would curl my hair and that didn't even happen. Just an awkward "okay. I'm done....call me to schedule the next session" after spending five hours at the salon. (Paraphrasing but still pretty close to what she actually said.) She never offered to fix my hair or offer a discount, she never even acknowledged that she did such a poor job. And this is why I am leaving this review. So others can make their own decisions accordingly and learn from my mistake. I have to say that this is the worst hair appointment experience that I have ever had in my life. I was super surprised based on all the photos I saw that she or the salon posted on facebook. It looked like my experience would have been the exact opposite, but I would have to say I would definitely caution others from going there. All in all....This is what I left with, and I didn't trust her enough to go back and pay her again to fix it....

I hate to have to write this. But unfortunately after having my hair dyed purple ( I asked for ice blonde) also some lovely shades of pink and yellow, I was assured that it would wash out. It has not. I attempted to contact the stylist numerous times over several days. He assured me when I was leaving that if I had any problems he would fix it. He instead has ignored me. I paid $225 in cash for my service, and my daughters hair and makeup for prom. Unfortunately she hated her hair and makeup and I had to redo all of it on prom day. I did not blame the stylist as teenage girls are finicky. But after photos came out he sent me a message asking what happened. I politely told him that she just didn’t like it. After that message I have been totally ignored. Practically begging for him to even tell me what I could buy to remove the purple. I’m so very upset about this entire experience. Especially because he has done my hair, and my daughters hair previously and it was absolutely beautiful. He is talented, but mistakes get made. He could have easily fixed this. I am a good client. I have been going to Ashley for my manicures & pedicures since she became licensed & started at Dream color & extensions. She is very attentive to detail & she has gotten my nails to grow longer than they have ever been! My nails still look great 3 weeks later getting the builder gel, can’t wait for my next appt! I just went to Mandy (the owner) for the first time for my hair, I had color, cut & style done. She was able to get my hair to curl after years of my curls not being able to hold! My color & cut I am also very happy with, I will definitely be going back! I highly recommend both girls, you will not be disappointed! The salon is super cute, updated very nice & is clean.
