Put your money to better use and donate to the Citizens Water Advocacy Group in Prescott instead. They provide education, news updates, participate in local government meetings, and even write informative articles for the local paper. As a Verde Valley resident I WANT to support Friends of the Verde, but I just can't. I lived here for four years before I even heard the Verde is under extreme threat (in large part) from groundwater pumping (and I didn't hear it from Friends). Where is the education piece here? I talk to co-workers and community members and they have no idea that the Verde is in danger. Shouldn't this be the cornerstone of the local group mission--to educate it's residents? Furthermore, Friends has virtually no presence or voice at important government meetings regarding decisions that could affect the Verde. At this time, they provide no news alerts or updates notifying their members of meetings to follow or attend.
