Old Towne Estate and Antique Sales LTD — Local services in Crystal Lake

Recently we had an estate sale with Mitch and his team. The girls (Dorothy, Suzie, Gina, Diane and Phyllis) all worked so hard to set up everything so that it presented well. They also made sure important items I forgot to get out of sight were given to me directly so they wouldn't be bought or stolen. During the sale they had a full table of masks, booties, gloves and sanitizer and made sure everyone was in their protective Covid gear before walking the house. I was very happy that Mitch is one of the few Estate Sale business owners that allows you to stay and watch the entire time they're in your home including the sale. I was able to see first hand how they operate. We were blown away by the volume of people that came through the home! We would've never had that much exposure if we'd done it on our own. It definitely helped our sales! There was a worker on each floor (we had 4 levels) and one of them even caught someone trying to steal items! The original pricing was very fair and they were willing to work with the customers on pricing if it was reasonable. When the sale was over, the cleanup was perfection! All glassware (China and crystal) was wrapped and boxed for protection and donation items were boxed or bagged. EVERYTHING was hauled out and we literally had nothing but our personal items to pack. Floors were cleaned and we were asked if it was to our satisfaction before they left. I can't tell you how valuable that part of the service was to us! If I could give 0 stars I would! I went to the sale on Saturday. We bought a lot of things and at the end by the checkout, we were told by a sweet white lady with blonde hair, that we could look at the rings and that they were 2 for $10. So me and my dad were going to get some. Then this mexican lady with glasses rudely comes behind my dad and me and says "EXCUSE ME I NEED TO GET MY DESK AND YOURE NOT SUPPOSED TO BE LOOKING AT THOSE , I HAVENT EVEN PRICED THEM YET". So me and my dad respectfully put them back and I told her that the other NICE white lady told us we could look at them and purchase them. Then a few minutes later as we are still checking out because we bought a lot, the same mexican lady rudely tells me and my dad "EXCUSE ME CAN YOU GUYS MOVE OUT OF THE WAY SO OTHER PEOPLE CAN GET CHECKED OUT TOO". So I gave her some attitude back this time and said "yeah well theres not much room but ok". I will definitely not be coming to any more of their estate sales unless I deal with the white lady. Thanks to the mexican lady for ruining me and my dads day. She needs to be fired and she needs to be taught proper respect and communication skills. She was also so rude to an 80 year old sweet heart that was checking out. She gave her attitude too. She honestly needs to be fired. Very bossy owner. Entered our house with out permission several times. Difficult salesman with anticipated time lines. Pay as you go - appears to be a “just in time” business as he needs to be paid right after closing on the house. I realize we needed to compensate but the threats over the phone were too much. My mom lived there for 30 years and this sale was very difficult. We paid 30K so beware - sold 6k of antiques ??. We had beautiful stuff. He trashed very expensive books claiming that the libraries would not take them which is not true. Such a waste. If I had known he was a trash junky I would have been more proactive.
