Las Cazuelitas mexican bar and grill — Restaurant in Crystal Lake

I have never left a negative review in my life, but dear me! after a long day at work a few of my friends and I decided to go locally for some food and couple beers. We ended at this Mexican restaurant. I think that you can expect some sort of standard when you go out to eat. Unfortunately the standard at this restaurant was very poor. Where do I start? Having entered the restaurant, we had to wait for several minutes to be greeted and seated, when finally a waitress said hi to us. She took us to our table. The menu cards very ABSOLUTELY disgusting, covered in oil and what seem to be dried hot sauce. I specifically told the waitress Laura I wanted steak nachos. She took the order wrong and brought me a steak dinner. I told her that wasn’t what I ordered and she stated ‘’ aora te la comes’’ which translates to (now you have to eat it). I agreed to eat the steak dinner which was ok. She kept on continuously asking if we wanted another bucket of beer which she more wanted to raise the check for the higher tip and not really concerned that we weren’t even done with our first beers yet. After getting the check we split it in 3 ways. We proceeded by giving our credit cards to Laura the waitress she came back and asked who I was and that she accidentally charged the full amount on my card but she had voided it. After she explained that she had charged the entire amount on my card I said to her “you probably made my account negative now’’ to only get a “work harder’’ reply from her. I was shocked to her response. If Laura has such a bad attitude doing what she does waitressing maybe she should consider looking into other fields. At this point I’ve had enough and I can say she didn’t deserve a tip due to her poor service. After browsing through my bank statement I notice a tip was added without my knowledge or consent, after I had crossed out the added tip and signed the check. It wasn’t a significant amount, but it’s a matter of principal very unprofessional on behalf of the restaurant and staff. The waitress has committed a crime/fraud. I called the manager to dispute the charge only for him to tell me that he would look into and will call me back. After several hours of no call back I got a hold of the manager again and he stated he’d been busy and have not gotten to it yet. I simply stated that I would have my bank deal with it and ended the call. I never been to or dealt which such unprofessionalism. Management and employees...

When I first arrived it took at least 10 minutes before someone approached me so I can order. I am sorry to indicate this was the worst burrito suiza I have ever had. Moreover, I asked for a ground beef burrito and asked what comes inside . The waiter who was cordial told me there was beans sour cream tomatoes and such. I told him to omit the lettuce. Thus, once the burrito, which took only a three minutes which was odd, came to my table and the burrito didn’t look right. Meaning that the melted cheese on top of the burrito was shifted more to the right and not evenly throughout the top of the burrito . Plus it wasn’t even ground beef nor any sour cream as the waiter told me . Once I took a few bites, the burrito was cold . It was inedible . I told the waiter and he talked to his manger on duty . Much to my surprise the waiter told me there was nothing he could do . I was like really but I ate way less than half of the burrito . He got his manager and he was very rude and told me “ you should have told us sooner” . I was like look I have come here a few times and you even waited on me and you know I get this all the time . He was still reluctant in making another burrito but gave me half off . As a result , I left the uneaten burrito and I told him I am never coming back in your establishment again . Folks, this is not good service at all and unfortunately I will never go back because slow and lack of service and the quality was just...

The waiters thought I didn't speak Spanish. They were saying awful things about my son. When I told them I understood what they were saying, they laughed at me. Never go here ever unless you want to be abused by cocky waiters.

Update: 4/5/18 They just responded to my review. there was no misunderstanding. I understood clearly what the waiter had said. Please train your waiters to have respect or hire better people for your establishment. Please do not try to cover up the reality of what was done and said. There has been no compensation for the mistreatment that my family and I had to endure during our visit. I wouldn't be surprised if the waiters continue to mistreat their customers, especially those who they assume don't speak Spanish. For those who are reading this, take my advice and go to El Burrito instead. After going to Las Cazuelitas and having my son be mistreated, we went to El Burrito. In El Burrito they treated us like family and respected us genuinely. They have been around way longer than Las Cazuelitas and actually know how to be good host. Save yourself from the humilation and mistreatment las Cazuelitas Staff will give you and go to El Burrito or Las Cumbres. Las Cumbres has actually been rewarded for their delicious food and service.
