Hmm…love the donuts and coffee here and has never failed to be a great snack and hang-out spot in CL since it’s open 24 hours. However, we haven’t been back in a while and don’t plan on coming back anymore-due to an extremely rude and sad encounter we had with an employee here. We were gifted a ‘Complementary Dozen-Donuts’ gift-card from a relative and of course were ecstatic to go! Upon handing the cashier the card, she immediately became very suspicious and upset-questioning us on where we received it and even asking another associate if it was real. We told her it was gifted to us and she didn’t respond and chose to instead give us dirty looks in silence. The associate she was talking to about it was much more friendly towards us, telling the cashier that it seemed real to her and it shouldn’t be a problem. This made the cashier even more visibly upset, as she rolled her eyes and huffed-and-puffed at what I assume is the thought of her having to give two 19 yo’s free donuts. When we asked for 2 long-johns in the order, she mentioned they were an extra 10 cents each and asked if we would “even be able to pay for them.” Gross and hurtful, and very embarrassing as well for us, as many customers were watching and listening to the interaction. We didn’t clapback or cause any issues, payed just fine and left a cash tip as well. I am also a food-service worker who works for a small but very popular business in CL, down the same street as this Country Donuts, and we also understand the struggle of giving out free items when we could really use the money, especially for labor costs; But that’s never the customers fault if we decide to give out complimentary things no matter how badly we don’t want to do it. One great experience will always have them coming back for 100 more. I know this review was long but hopefully it reaches someone who...
Read moreI would give zero stars if possible. This place was my favorite for years . I will never return again. After dealing with the owner " Gina " this place is a waste of time and money. I went in today to purchase 1dozen donuts. To come home to enjoy with my family to then find a gray hair with black roots in the dough of a Bavarian cream donut. I called to make then aware. Then told by the owner " Gina" that they are not required to wear hair nets to prepare food... this is disgusting. I have worked in food service and now Healthcare. I have looked up state and federal guidelines and hair nets are required for food prep to avoid contamination. Just like how someone would feel to have your blood drawn without someone wearing gloves or any medical procedure for that matter. The Woman lied to my face saying they had no employee with gray hair. Then the employee in question walked right past us as " Gina" rolled her eyes and was incredibly rude. Donuts were refunded and given 4 extra dollars to cover the 10+ I spent on gas to drive back there. I do not suggest anyone to eat there until they follow safe food handling . This is beyond gross and unsanitary. I just hope no one get sick from this establishment of they continue to not provide clean working practices. Even tried saying all the bakers wear hats... I look thru the window and there's boys wearing no hat covering making donuts. If a person's nose grew for every lie this woman wouldn't be able to fit in the building. Horrible clean standards and horrible customer service. DO...
Read moreI used to be a big fan of Country Donuts, but not anymore. The lady who helped us today 7/8/2024 between 12:00 am and 12:30 am decided to play with her nose ring while holding the paper wrapper she was going to use to put our donuts in the box. Before I even told her what donuts I wanted, I asked her to wash her hands because she touched her nose and didn't even have gloves on. Then she told me that she had a nose ring in. I said, "Well, you just touched your nose and I don't want you touching the food.i dont want to get sick!" She got angry, but proceeded to wash her hands. Not long enough, though. Then she came back and boxed the donuts and while she was getting our hot chocolate and coffee, I looked in the window by the counter and there was a man making the dough. Well he happened to touch his face with his hands, mind you no Gloves on and yes he proceeded to touch the dough too. ... Makes you wonder if hygiene is any concern there? So if your manager or owner sees this review, please note....I will not be coming back, I hope you decide to retrain all your employees on hand washing, and your employees should not be allowed to wear nose rings and rings on there hands with no gloves on and working with food. Jewelry on your hands with no gloves on has germs. Nose rings has germs. You lost a customer that has been coming to your business for...
