King’s Bay Lodge — Local services in Crystal River

My husband and I loved our stay!! So much so that we made another reservation before we left. Our room was clean, bed Linens were clean. Plenty of towels and wash cloths, toilet paper and a starter of shampoo, conditioner and bath soap although I always take our own. The bed was comfortable and we had every thing we needed. The staff was friendly and easy to approach and talk with. We loved sitting on the floating dock watching the wildlife. The water was so clear we could see bottom with all it’s beautiful grasses. We could see numerous fish swimming around and were treated to watching a momma manatee nursing her little calf, all while relaxing on the dock. There was a small gator that would come up onto the dock or lawn to sun. He was more afraid of us than we him and would scurry away when someone got too close so we gave him a wide berth as we enjoyed his company. The spring pool was pretty awesome. We swam around the dock as well as the spring pool. My hubby and I loved it so much, we will be back. We drove out to the coast and enjoyed the beach out there. A must do: eat at The Crab Plant and The Biscuit Barn! We loved the area and will return soon with our kids and grandkids. We want to do a “family vacation” there. We are so excited about returning again and spending Mother's Day weekend at this quaint resort with dear friends. It is guaranteed to bring back vintage memories of a time that was more soothing and relaxing. Step back in time and experience "Old Florida." Do not let the clean simple outdoor look fool you. Each room has been upgraded and updated to offer upscale warmth and comfort. Just a few steps from your beautiful waterfront efficiency, you step on to your boat located close by at the boat dock. Kelly also works at the front desk taking reservations with her Sunshine personality. It is our special place to enjoy the ocean. There are many things to do in the area like Swim with Manatees or go Kayaking in Kings Bay. I call it our "Little Piece of Paradise" and so do many others. It had been over 20 years since my last trip to Crystal River, and this time was for a 'father and son' vacation with my 10 year old. I didn't know about Kings Bay Lodge on the last trip, but Crystal River is an 'old Florida' kind of town, and wanted to stay somewhere affordable that fit with that nostalgic feeling. Kings Bay Lodge was perfect. The rooms were very big compared to a regular hotel room, and had a nice kitchenette (full size appliances), and bath (good size, tiled, walk-in shower). The rooms were very, very clean - housekeeping knows how to do the job right. The check in staff were very professional, and made good recommendations for eating out. We made use of the natural spring pool, which was a unique experience to say the least. Not exactly what you'd expect, but that was part of the fun. Not sure if the spring water has medicinal properties, but it seemed to clear the excema on my hand for a a few days. I like that they have docks available to guests. We didn't bring our boat on this trip, but will likely bring it the next time. While there's no additional fee to dock the boat, there is a charge for storing your trailer next door.
