Went to Hoffmans coffee and deli. Apparently, unbeknownst to me, my last purchase did not go through.
As soon as I got to the counter the owners exact words right off the bat. "If your card doesn't work today we can't help you, because your card never went through the last time.
First of all, it was obvious the credit card machine was glitching that day as the employee called someone to look at it because it kept spinning. I looked at my bank account and showed her it went through.
I then said, well if it doesn't I will square it away or the owner knows how to get ahold of me if need be and I will take care of it.
I wasn't even able to get in a word as stated above he just started saying my credit card may be no good and they couldn't help me. I actually was going to ask if there was an issue but was not able to get a word in. I have never had an issue with my card and felt insulted.
When i finally got a chance to speak, i stated you could have contacted me . And his other exact words were "well i was in the hospital and not worried about 15 dollars". Well Mr. Hoffman you obviously were worried because of the unprofessional way it was handled.
We just started going as we buy coffee by the pound regularly. And like to buy coffees while waiting.
Needless to say i will never return to this place of business and he just lost a good customer as his inability to handle these sorts of issues was and is way out of line.
Shame on you man! I hope whomever reads this reads between the lines here as we love supporting other small businesses because they are our fellow country men and women. We should all stick together and be supportive of one another.
We will be looking for another coffee stand.
As to the response below. I to have lost my brother in 2016 and recently my son to an accidental overdose to fentynal. He was only 30 years old. I also have health issues that has left me in the hospital on numerous occasions. One time in an induced coma for 18 days and a hospital stay of 6 months.
With that said i still treat others with the utmost respect and just plain common courtesy. I am sorry for Mr. Hoffmans situation but until he is ready to be kind to his customers, maybe he...
Read moreStopped in here a couple of months ago with The Missus (bless 'er) while taking the scenic route to Philadelphia. Tired and hungry, the farmer's market popped up on the ol' Google maps as a place to try out, so we did.
The 'Five Star Rating' is for what follows:
Man, are ever glad! In fact, we have to talk ourselves out of taking the long way to Philadelphia because of our need to stop at the farmer's market. Actually, let me be more specific: stop at Salino's Deli for one of- if not the finest- Italian sub sandwich The Missus (bless 'er) and I have ever had. No joke.
Not only were we amazed by the generous portion, the aged provolone cheese, the variety of meats, the peppers and the rest, we could not believe our luck at finding this King of Sandwiches and the Sandwich of Kings. Ok, maybe a bit much, but dang, I've eaten sandwiches around the world and make a damn fine one myself, but Salino's really is all that, as it has become the standard by which all other subs...
Read more6/1/18--Update: Shillington Farmer's Market has attracted several new vendors, including a second produce stand, a meat smoker, an additional bakery, Auntie Anne's pretzels, Max Crema coffee (the second coffee vendor at this market), and Betty's Salads. The great meat and poultry vendors are still here, too! I bought a few treats for my pup at a new vendor; she LOVED them! I really enjoyed my visit, and am pleased to see the market coming back to life! ...................................................................
This used to be my favorite farmer's market. There are still a few excellent vendors here, but many of the vendors left after the Wyomissing market opened. There isnt that much there right now, but here hoping it will make a comeback and become the vibrant place...
