I feel it's important for others to be aware of what happened when I took my car to Flynn's for a routine brake job.
I have changed my own brakes before, but because my brakes were making different noises intermittently, I suspected that one of the calipers needed replacing. I've done that before too, but didn't want the hassle of bleeding the lines, so I took the car to Flynn's. I told them I knew the rotors and brake pads needed done, and I also told them my suspicions about the caliper. An hour or so later, they returned the car to me. Reviewing the invoice, I saw there were no caliper repairs listed, so I asked again - you inspected the calipers? And they assured me they were fine.
Over the next six weeks, my brakes continued to act...strange. Intermittently making noises I'd never heard brakes make before. I checked my brake fluid levels multiple times during this interval, and it was always fine (that'll be important later!). I looked at my tires one day and realized a lug nut was missing - I don't know how one even manages that, with those stupid pneumatic wrenches. I finally took the car back to Flynn's and said, "Something isn't right." They took a look and informed me that the bolts holding one caliper on had snapped off completely and that thang was just dangling in there. So: Either the bolts were damaged when I initially took it in, and Flynn's somehow missed it, even though I specifically told them to look at the calipers; or Flynn's broke my caliper bolts, and somehow didn't notice that they did that. No good options there! So Flynn's replaced the caliper and redid the brakes for free, because they knew they'd messed up.
However!
Within a day of getting my car back from Flynn's the second time, I knew once again that something wasn't right. Idling at stoplights, my brake pedal would slowly sink. I decided to take it to a different shop this time - why give the same guys 3 chances to take me out? Before I could even get to a different shop, though, the low brake fluid light came on. Remember how I said I checked the fluid multiple times before returning to Flynn's for their second chance? So it wasn't leaking - go to Flynn's again - now it's leaking.
The other shop let me know there was actually a recall on my brake fluid pump, such that nobody except a dealer should be opening my brake lines at all (including a caliper replacement). Sloppy of Flynn's not to know that! So I took it to the dealer. They ran the recall, inspected my brakes, and told me that my brake lines were PUNCTURED near the caliper Flynn's had replaced. When you replace a caliper, you're supposed to bleed the lines. That's the whole task I was initially trying to avoid. Obviously Flynn's avoided it too, or they would have NOTICED that they PUNCTURED MY BRAKE LINES.
I told the dealer to go ahead and replace the brake lines. They did, put everything back together, tested it - and called me to tell me that the caliper on the OTHER side, the one Flynn's didn't replace, was hanging up. Of course it is! Because on my very first visit to Flynn's, I TOLD them that I thought a caliper was hanging up!!!! But what would I know, right? I'm just a silly girl. How would I even know what a caliper is? Haha.
All-in-all, I had to spend $850 at the dealer to fix Flynn's shoddy work. The dealer was careful to say that it's possible this was all a crazy coincidence and there's no way to prove it was Flynn's fault - I get it, it would look bad for them to badmouth another shop. But to me, the evidence was overwhelming. My bank thought so too - after I explained the situation to them, they refunded me the money that I wasted at Flynn's. I just got the letter telling me the dispute was finalized, so I knew it would be safe to go ahead with this review. I'm not sure how the rest of their reviews are so good - they literally could have killed me screwing up my brakes so badly.
Edit: I'm running out of space to respond, but you're full of it. I left you a voicemail on 11/1 after waiting 20 mins for you to pick up the phone. You...
Read moreI took my car in to repair one of my tires. I bought 4 tires at the end of 2024. I took it in in the evening just before closing and was told to bring it back in the morning. I brought it back and they repaired it. They said that the charge for the repair is $24.99. I said that I have road hazard on these tires when I bought them. They said that they could only find a receipt for 3 of the tires and those were on the back not the front that needed fixed. So I paid and went home to find my receipt. Took up the next morning and showed him that it was for 4 like I told them. 2 tires came from their store in Pennsylvania to their store and I had to wait for those to come in before they could install all 4 at once like my vehicle requires with 4 wheel drive. I also got a oil change at the time in which they messed up . When I picked vehicle up , going home , all my dashboard lights went on . Took it back and the mechanic forgot to hook back up filters, sensors. They finally put in the computer all 4 tires so I would not go through all that hassrl again and refunded the charge for repair. I will never have an oil change done there again. I should have never had to go through all that hassel wasting my time and gas because someone didn't do their job and put all 4 tires in the...
Read moreAbout a year ago I brought my car in for new tires. One of their technicians damaged the floorboard. Don’t know how they did it but they dented the floor of my car. Basically my car had 2 humps inside. They took full responsibility of it and had my car repaired. At this point I’m thinking it’s an honest mistake.
My last incident is the last straw. On 11/18/2023 I brought my girlfriend car in for brakes replacement. Everything was great until we got home. I noticed that the clips for my wheel well popped out. Further examination I noticed my front bumper was scuffed. On the same side my side rocker panel also dented in and cracked. We were so upset when we found out. We dumped so much money into this establishment thinking that their first mistake was an honest one. Now it just shows that they are careless when handling customers vehicle. If they can’t handle vehicles without damaging it, it makes me think twice of what’s happening when they’re working on it.
Update 11/19/2024: After the owner responded that they will contact me and make it right. Still haven’t heard nothing from them. Shows that they...
