Slate Apartments — Local services in Dallas

My experience at this place started off on the wrong foot and did not get any better for the whole year I was there. I was living in a hotel room prior to leasing here and had checked out on the morning of my move-in date to go to my new apartment. When I pulled up to the leasing office to get my keys, I was told I could not move in until 3pm because they were cleaning my unit. This was strange to me because I've never had a place tell me I cannot move in until a certain time on my move-in date, and they also had two weeks before my move-in date to prepare the apartment. So I had to sit in my car for several hours before I could get my keys at 3pm. Finally, I got my keys but then had to fill out and provide more paperwork which only prolonged my moving in. After dealing with all of that, I was able to drive to the unit only to find that it was not the apartment I toured and told them I wanted; it was a completely different apartment and was terribly infested with roaches and spiders. There were cobwebs all over the place including above the front door and roaches inside the refrigerator. It didn't look like anything had been cleaned even though they made me wait several hours in the hot sun to supposedly do just that. The place was filthy and utterly disgusting. I have been a resident at Slate Apartments for the past four years, and I must share my positive experiences since Richmark Properties took over the management of the community. The transformation under the new management has been remarkable, bringing numerous improvements and enhancing the overall living experience. The introduction of package lockers has been a game-changer, providing a secure and convenient way to receive packages. The pool area now boasts new furniture, creating a more enjoyable and relaxing environment for us residents. The office and business center have been remodeled, offering a modern and welcoming space for both personal and professional use. The office staff deserves special mention for their exceptional service. They are consistently friendly, approachable, and always willing to assist with any needs or concerns. Their dedication to resident satisfaction is evident in every interaction, making living here a pleasant experience. Given the significant positive changes and the excellent management, I am definitely renewing my lease for another year. The continuous improvements and the supportive community atmosphere have made Slate Apartments a great place to call home.

I’m beyond frustrated with my experience at Slate Apartments. There’s absolutely no reason why I should be paying $1,800 a month for a 2 bed, 2 bath apartment that is outdated, poorly maintained and INFESTED WITH ROACHES. The appliances are ancient, and to top it off, there were damages and missing items when I moved in.

The amenities are equally disappointing. The pool is never cleaned and clearly needs a remodel, especially considering the high rent prices. The gym is a joke—it’s poorly equipped, and the treadmill doesn’t even work. It looks like they just grabbed some random equipment from a thrift store and threw it in a room to call it a gym. They definitely put my effort into remodeling the leasing office over remodeling/upgrading the units or gym.

On top of that, the other tenants are incredibly noisy, blasting loud music and treating the parking lot like a part-time mechanic shop. Kids are constantly playing outside, but there are no speed bumps for their safety, even though cars are always speeding around the corners and through the parking lot.
