Cool counter-serve spot that I really wanted to like, but I found the food underwhelming. We stopped in about 45 minutes before closing when we got into town and ordered takeout. We did the chuleta con queso tacos, flautas, and tostadas de tinga. Prices are a little high for what you get. The flavor of everything was OK, almost there. The onions were starting to slime, still OK but not fresh. Some of the limes were browning on the skin, also ok but not the freshest flavor. The green sauce was good, not hot at all though. The red salsa a little smokey and some bite. Service was great and I'd go back based on the interaction with staff. Would consider again late at night with other options closed.

It was good But it was expensive to not offer chips and salsa and to not have their plates served with rice and beans. They did serve a tiny bowl of black beans (I believe that's in lieu of chips and salsa). I'd prefer chips and salsa and my food served with sides. For four people was about $55.00... And That's why I only rated it 4 stars. Great food, great service. But if you're on a budget and want to get full- look elsewhere! With that, This food is SOOOO Good! I'm only sorry that I didn't get a picture of the flautas. It was a plate of 3 flautas, garnished with salsa Verde, crema, lechuga, queso fresco, y aguacate slices. Food is definitely as good as it looks!!!

A friend located this little gem, and we've since been back several times. The ambience is lovely, the black bean soup is so delicious, and the whole menu is a delight. I ordered the choriqueso appetizer, which is pictured - it was fantastic! I also ordered the horchata, and love that they sprinkled cinnamon on top. The salsas are spicy and flavorful, and the brisket tacos (too hungry - no pic) were perfect. I can't say enough about this place. I have yet to try the adult beverages, but intend to try the guavarita as soon as I can get back. I highly recommend giving it a shot.

I so badly want to give this restaurant a better rating because the food was AMAZING! But the service was so horrible. My husband and I sat waiting for a menu. Another couple came in and sat next to us and was given service before we did. We waited for refills on drinks and our food order. The waitress was tending to everyone else and basically ignored us. When it came time to pay that same waitress who seemed to not care about servicing us was now standing over us waiting for my husband to pay once she dropped off the check. She literally handed him the check and stood there until he pulled out his card and placed it into the recipient holder to hand it back to her. My husband and I felt discriminated against and will no longer visit this location. We are new to the state of Texas and have had a great experience at restaurants until today.

UPDATED Mr. Spencer,

I'm sorry that you are having a hard time understanding that we did not receive great service. Or that it is hard for you to understand that we where not promptly serviced upon arrival but another couple was. Maybe it's just me but I assumed that once I sat down that I would be greeting with a menu and a follow up question of what I would like to drink. Not sit and waiting while another couple who was seated after us to be serviced. I don't doubt that you are passionate about your food because we really enjoyed our meal however the service skills that you so proudly teach your employees could use some fine tuning. And if you are teaching them with that sarcastic tone I see why the services was less than great. I'm not sure what a minority has to do with anything. I expect anyone who is serving me to give me great services. And just because the server was a minority doesn't give them the pass to be sloppy with their service. I don't expect your servers to only serve me. I don't sit on a high horse and expect to receive service like I'm the only customer. I understand that the server has other tables to get to and it may takes sometime to get to me. That is totally understandable. However my problem is that another couple was served, dined and left well before we did. How would you feel if you are sitting waiting for your menu and another couple who arrived after you; who sat right next to us by the way. Was serviced before you, received their food before you, paid and left before you?? Seems a bit odd; does it not? But when it was time to pay for the check that same server who was so conveniently "occupied" now has the time to stand at our table as we look over the receipt and take out our card for payment. Like I stated. The food was great! And if anyone decided to eat at your establishment I would suggest to them takeout. But the services that my husband and I received was not at the level that you speak so proudly of. Any customer who decides to dine in and put money into your business should not feel like they are...

First of all I am not that type of person, who goes through life leaving comments to all the places I visit. I have never done it, but there is always a first time.! I have been visiting El Tizoncito for years since the opening of the Forest Ln. location, where I met Jenny and the electricians. Since that day my friends and I visit this place frequently on Friday or Saturday nights after 10pm to be more exact. We go for the frozen margaritas, the Guacamole and the sopes that are my favorites. Yesterday Saturday this incident happened, I ordered a guacamole that I always do but for some reason it was super loaded with red onion. I asked the waiter in the most polite way if he could change it for one without onion, and I explained why. He answered me clearly with pleasure and addressed the kitchen staff. I am listening to the conversation of the waiter who is explaining what happened and a person from the kitchen responds in this way, (Well, tell them that they have to wait because we are very busy and if they are very special to eat they have to wait) The young man left, took the guacamole and went to the person in charge of the place and showed her the guacamole. This person got up from where she was and went straight to the kitchen and asked for a guacamole without onions, they finally prepared it and the waiter returned to our table, apologized for what had happened and told us that he would take the guacamole off our bill. by order of the manager. I made this comment to the young man, add it to the bill because if you don't we won't eat it and we decided not to touch the guacamole. I personally work in the food industry, I know how stressful this type of work can be, but that type of comment is (unacceptable), much more knowing that the place is very small and that the kitchen is together with the dining room where customers can hear everything. It's sad because we are regular customers and all the waiters already know us, every time we visit this place we have a great time. But yesterday the experience I had left a bitter taste in my mouth and I think it's time to take a break...

I been coming here for about a 2-3 months my husband and I were becoming regulars. Our work life became stressful so we were buying multiple times a week but the last 2 week had gone down hill. The same thing has happened, I will call ahead and put on hold longer than usual because the person who handles the phone english is not good and they have to find someone to take the order though the next person also have a hard time understanding me. We go in to get our order only for it to be wrong and have to wait 15-20 minutes to correct it. Once a lady gave me my check and when I said it’s the same check, she said it as only 2 dollars it’s not that much so to just sign it; 2 dollars is not a lot, buts it’s my 2 dollars to dictate, especially if I have to sit here after getting my order wrong AGAIN. The same thing happened today, I had to sit in again because the order was wrong. I ordered a meal that served 2 people and realized they only gave me sides for one. Now like I said we came her multiple times a week and we always got enough sides for 2 people. When I brought it to their attention, the staff of about 5 people came and they all begin to translate what I said to each other and said I will have to pay extra if I want more sides and when did I come in. I told them the days I came in last week (3 times) and told them that I always got 2 sides but they continue to tell me “no no you get one”. So not only did I have to sit after my order is wrong, they decided that I would have to pay extra for sides that a meal that serve 2. I really liked this place when we first came but now they are being cheap. The meat also has not been properly marinated the last time we got it but again we went because it was close and were tired from work and just wanted some good eats. Looks like the good eats are gone from...
