The Skidompha Secondhand Book Shop in downtown Damariscotta is a cozy treasure trove for readers. Tucked along Elm Street, it’s the kind of place where shelves are stacked high with donated books, puzzles, and games, all waiting for a new home. Every purchase helps support the town library, making it a true community hub.
Inside, the shop feels like a series of book-filled rooms, each corner devoted to a different genre. From children’s classics to cookbooks and local histories, the selection is always changing, which makes browsing part of the fun. Prices are affordable, and the atmosphere is warm and welcoming thanks to the volunteers who keep it running.
What began decades ago as a small fundraiser has grown into one of New England’s most beloved used bookshops. Overlooking the Damariscotta River, it’s a spot where travelers and locals alike can slow down, hunt for hidden gems, and carry a bit of Maine’s literary spirit home with them. #SkidomphaBooks #Damariscotta #UsedBookShop #MaineCoast...

What great ideas to keep people engaged during their visit. All proceeds go to supporting the local library. The people were super...
