My friend and I spent a weekend at the Tipsy Butler Bed & Breakfast and absolutely loved it. I have to say that the breakfast is super delicious, especially the pumpkin muffin, which is extremely soft and fluffy. Also, all ingredients in breakfast are fresh and organic, with eggs from their own chickens. There’s even a handwritten menu on the wall each morning with a starter and a main course—such a charming touch. The coffee and bar selection is great, and I love the honey so much—so fragrant and addictive. Our room is on the third floor and was super huge and personal: the entire third floor belongs to us during the stay. Chaney is very considerate: chargers on each nightstand, water in the mini-fridge, and a sweet welcome card along with check-in instructions. The whole stay felt warm. The inn is full of cute, thoughtful details, and the breakfast room is decorated seasonally, which made my mornings feel special. There are three cats and one dog—very cute and friendly—but they won’t bother you if you’re not a pet person. If you are, they’re happy to be petted. I’d come back in a heartbeat and recommend it to anyone visiting the area.

We loved our weekend getaway at The Tipsy Butler! Wasn’t sure what to expect with the humorous name but it exceeded all expectations! Our room was so spacious and beautifully appointed with all the cozy pillows and bed coverings one could want as the weather gets chilly. Stephanie was the most welcoming and gracious host, so warm and helpful. It was lovely to have easy access to coffee, tea, plates and silverware and napkins so we could make ourselves at home when dining in. The living space was great to relax in and read. So happy to also meet some of the menagerie (Daisy and the very curious Tilly💕). Breakfast was fresh, with the most local of eggs from the girls out back and so delish. Have to return to try out the wood fired sauna (and maybe the dream hot tub will be in by then too!!). Thank you for the lovely conversations and for geeking out about growing dahlias too.

While visiting local friends we came here to use their new wood fired sauna. We went two separate evenings (one night the guys went and the next the ladies went). Both groups had a great time. Stephanie was a great host. The property is a beautiful spot. We did not see much of the inn but based on our experience I think it would be an excellent place to stay. We did the sauna for an hour mixed with cold dips in the claw foot tub. The cold submersion really makes the experience of the sauna even better and you feel great after. This was my first time in a long time in a sauna and my first time ever doing the cold exposure and now I'm hooked. It's all about the breathing! Highly recommend visiting here. Thank you for the great time!

Had a lovely and restful week at The Tipsy Butler! Steph is a delightful host, and the rooms are comfortable and thoughtfully laid out.

The location is easily walkable into downtown Damariscotta, assuming you can handle a few small inclines and don't mind the ~half a mile jaunt, which was a lovely walk on our first day after a few hours in the car.

Things I always wonder when I stay somewhere: Yes, TV, fridge, and microwave in the room, all worked excellently (great for late night Hulu watching to relax after hot days at the beach). Delicious breakfast each morning, and coffee/tea available through the day. Plenty of games and books on site, for any time you need to relax with a good read or challenge your traveling partners to Scrabble. There was a sauna we didn't end up using this time, but great to know it's on site! The air conditioning was fantastic. I've stayed in probably a half dozen B&Bs, cottages, and homes in the Damariscotta area from the 90s-today, and having an insulated top floor with good a/c is wonderful on those hot days - it was a relief to return to our room after the heat of the afternoon.

Of course, being in New England and near the water, it's not hot every day, and we had a mix of weather during our week-long stay. Steph was great at giving recommendations for things to do in the area, no matter the outdoor temps. I was able to catch up on local history and changes to the area. It was the perfect break from a hectic work schedule.

We will definitely be back. Highly recommend booking here for your next stay in the mid-coast...

A group of us stayed at The Tipsy Butler in September 2022 when we were in Newcastle for our friend's wedding, and what a delightful place this inn is! Stephanie and her family were SO welcoming -- it felt like we were staying with old friends as soon as we arrived. The house itself is cozy and clean and the rooms are comfortable, charming, and unique. I loved drinking coffee on the porch in the morning looking out over the property. Plus there are some very sweet pets on the premises if you are looking for a friendly cat or dog! (Though Stephanie was also very good about keeping the animals corralled to help with my husband's allergies.) Also even two months later I can't stop thinking about the breakfasts that Stephanie made us each morning. That open-faced smoked salmon omelet? The STILL WARM baked goods with real Maine blueberries?? And how she made sure coffee was ready to go super early in the morning as soon as I told her I was an early riser. My only complaint about our stay is that I wish we could have spent more time at the inn itself -- we were too busy out and about with wedding stuff!! I just wanted to hang out at The Tipsy Butler! But if you are in mid-coast Maine for a wedding, The Tipsy Butler is the ideal location to get around to spots in Damariscotta and Bristol. The amazing restaurants River House and the Shuck Station are within walking distance, and 1812 Farm (the wedding venue) was a short 10-minute drive down the road. Thanks for everything, Stephanie! I can't wait...
