Took damaged ring to sell them as scrap. I knew it was 14k but was unsure of the weight. I just happened to be by there and remembered I had it in my console. I seen they closed in 5 minutes so I didn't have time to look at what 14k scrap prices were for the day. Despite it being 5 minutes to close the guy was accommodating. He tested it and confirmed it was 14k then weighed it on a scale behind the counter. I did not see the weight personally due to him removing it pretty fast. Not saying he did it on purpose and at the time I just chalked it up to it being 5 minutes past closing time. As soon as he removed it from the scale he said he could give me $150 for it. It was lower than what I expected so I explained to him that I was basically in the blind and would be just taking his word as men. I looked him in his eyes and asked him if $150 was a fair price for him and myself. He acted like he was offended I would even ask him that. I believe his reply was of course it is I've only been in business for 15 or 20 years. Taking his word for it I agreed and by dumb luck I had forgot my ID at the house so he said I'd have to come back tomorrow. He knew I wouldn't be coming back though because I was definitely going to have the time to do 5 minutes of research and figure out he just tried to pull a fast one on me. Once I got home i weighed the ring and it was 4.4 pennyweightss or 6.843 grams. I checked the 14k melt/scrap prices and seen it was $97.77 per pennyweight or $62.87 per gram. Now that adds up to $430 but I also understand that these places have overhead and at the end of the day he has a business to run. Some places will pay 10 percent below scrap but all places will pay 15 to 20 percent below scrap. So me being a nice guy and to come up with a realistic offer to compare to his sheisty $150. The answer is $300 dollars would have been excellent for him and fair for me and $300 is what I got from the first place I went after. If his offer would have been within 50 of that I wouldn't even have complained. Dude is sheisty I wouldn't give him any business but hey this is just my experience. He probably won't do that to anybody...
Read moreMy (now) fiance and I were really excited to see the amount of estate jewelry available, because I wanted to get a secondhand engagement ring. There was also a great assortment of new items, but I was mainly interested in the estate jewelry. Robbie was so nice and helpful, and helped suggest different rings to try based on my feelings about each style I tried. We also were both able to get sized and had the easiest time picking out wedding bands.
We ended up finding the most gorgeous estate diamond ring for an incredible price. There were so many beautiful and quality pieces, I could not have made a bad choice. On thanksgiving morning my fiance proposed to me and I still can't stop staring at it! Robbie sized it perfectly and I am so happy with it!
I saw a bunch of other beautiful rings with all sorts of stones when I was there as well, and plan to go back and pick out some other beautiful pieces going forward.
I will definitely be returning to Williams Jewelers for all my needs, and recommend it to everyone I know! Robbie is the...
Read moreI took my sisters watch in for a simple battery replacement. Watch was working fine but it was almost a year old and I was in the area. Because the watch was important to me I asked if she knew how to replace a battery in this particular watch. She said yes. When I left the store I noticed it wasn't working. Stopped at another jeweler- I thought maybe it was a bad battery. He opened it in front of me and said- it's not the battery- the battery was put in incorrectly and the watch is damaged. 3 months later watch has not been repaired and couldn't be repaired. The only time I would get an update on the watch was when I would call or stop by. So now I am without my sisters watch- the owner refused to send it elsewhere for repairs or to replace the watch. I...
