This school is an absolute mess. I’m pretty experienced with both the trade school and college itself. At 36 years old, I am more than half way through my bachelor’s degree and have accomplished getting certified in 12 different opportunities to pursue great career opportunities over my adult life. Since the Army, right out of high school; up until today. And I’ve never been handle this way. Especially as a protected disabled veteran no less, in a structured educational institute.
I have spent the last two month going back and forth with the Dean here (Dean Brooks) and several members of her staff. All of whom continue to reach out to me several times a week even though I’ve made clear unless the remove the two people who violated their policy and created a hostile work/school environment, that at this time as a veteran and just a human being, I do not feel as though they have taken proper steps to create a safe work/school environment. But they’re more worried about the numbers more than the schooling itself and it’s paying students.
I have been indirectly bullied by a passive aggressive Man named Anthony at their front desk. It’s an awkward situation because the school is tiny and it’s almost impossible to avoid people. But he goes out of his way to be indirect rather than avoid and leave me alone on school property. Even says things and handles himself inappropriately on the phone, when they ask me to call in. So now we all speak directly. They continue to accommodate his passive aggressive behavior because they say they can’t always prove it. Which I’m sure is true he chooses the passive route. It’s very immature and hostile. It creates tension and is unnecessary. He’s 25 I’m 36. I don’t wish to behave that way at my age with a kid as young as he is too. I thought maybe it would get easier, but the guy is still actively sleeping with my wife; whom he knew was my wife, because over the seven months in school; him and I built a very civilized relationship I thought, I tried to do with anyone in the school. Him and I would smoke talk and be cordial. So even if he wasn’t best friend of the year. Still a lot of discomfort, to add to the new passive aggressive hostility he’s shown. It’s all very unprofessional and now the school has displaced me. Not my wife (Tracy) or (Anthony) their front desk receptionist. Both Tracy and Anthony are students and receptionists and it pushes me up against a wall with my own school. Which I attended before my wife. She’s a new student in fact. Me and Anthony spent 6-7 months together with that dynamic, before my wife chose to still attend. Even though, we’d been recently separated. Tracy is willing to move to morning and be accountable and accommodating, but Anthony refuses (another method of passive aggressive behavior. Even though everyone agrees we should all be switch to avoid such discomfort, especially since they are still actively seeing each other. And it’s a directly violation of policies for this reason. Anywhere at work or school. As I said, it’s just all a mess and unprofessional. And now I have to figure out how to accept a loss from school and financial Aid. I am working on figuring out the legal options I have to make sure I’m not responsible for this outcome. Seems like a very unnecessary way to screw a protected veteran in this country and deprive them of an education they already paid for. That you didn’t do your best to provide. It’s such an unfortunate thing. Organizations are taking more and more advantage these days. I’m not surprised though based on the school and activities I’ve witness over the course. I would definitely reconsider going here if I were to do...
Read moreStay as far away from this school as you possibly can, they don't care about actually providing you with a good education they only care about cashing your monthly payment, I graduated in July and the entire time was awful. the onboarding process was rushed, we didn't get our tools till about 5 months after we paid for them and they didn't even come with the bare essentials, we barely did any labs and labs we did do we where told to fix the equipment without having any actual training on how to trouble shoot or repair the equipment, they never seemed to have any of the supplies like gas for the torches or thermostat wire, speaking of thermostat wire we didn't learn how to wire a thermostat until 9-10 months in, every day we had class we would just do our assignments on the computer then we where dismissed early. There where many times that we had instructors from other trades teaching our class and they had no knowledge of HVAC. I have complained on numerous occasions and was just given excuses after excuses, I asked for extra help and have had it set up with one of the instructors yet they never showed up to help me. The EPA 608 class was an absolute joke the teacher never taught a single thing about the EPA so I had to teach myself. I told them they need to make things right and they ensured me that they would, their solution was that i can come in for extra training after i graduated, i reached out on numerous occasions to get that training and never heard anything back, I reached out to the executive director once again and i was told that that he would reach back out to me and that was a month or so ago and have yet to hear anything back. I sunk the last bit of the money I had to go to this school and they completely took advantage of me not to mention every other student. No idea how they manage...
Read moreI decided to go here since they partnered with NUC (NUC also partnered with the college I went to in PR which was Instituto de Banca y Comercio in 2015) and that’s why I decided to give it a try. Mind you that I never studied in NUC college but since they partnered now it “doesn’t” make me a new student and I HAVE to pay $300 ($30 for 12 months payment plan which actually is $360) for a computer that’s not even $80!!! which the computer (said by the same staff) is supposed to be covered by the course fees and financial aid. The person who enrolled me in the MA program did it through the phone and made me sing everything online (email) and never explained something about this payment plan, first months taking online classes this payment was being “taking care of” but after I started on campus they “froze my classes” til I start making payments again. After we pay THOUSANDS of dollars for education they want to freeze my classes for a computer that’s not even worth $80!!! They don’t want the computer back, they are always telling me they can’t do nothing about it because they have my signature on an agreement they never told me about!! All they want is the money, more money. If you guys where that good to keep up with your A&B’s students (certificates) and that kind of things it would be much better. I am almost done with my whole course, I am an excelent student but still I can’t finish my classes for $30 a month. 👏🏻
Also communication between the employees (except the instructors) here is BAD! They make you go back and forth all the time. They talk over you before even finishing...
