We were visiting from down south and came to work out as guests during the week of the 4th of July. The guest pass process was simple and easy. We never felt any sales pressure and we didn't have to sit through a long presentation. I'm a regular gym member and have moved quite a bit, so I've seen my fair share of gyms. Here is my assessment.
This is a very well run gym with active management that cares. Eric is extremely friendly and helpful. I was doing cable rows and he heard a squeak from the handle. He immediately grabbed some WD40 and sprayed down the equipment so it did not squeak. This kind of attention to detail is exactly what you want in gym management.
Wide variety of free weights and machines. The gym offers a lot of different ways to work out. Spin class, boxing, free weights, machine weights, cardio equipment. They have multiple row machines, stair masters, a jacobs ladder...They have both power clean areas and racked squat racks.
Solid gym culture of cleanliness. I've been to plenty of gyms with signs that say "wipe down your machine" but RARELY is this followed. The culture here does that. Gym patrons are very good about wiping down machines.
There are some serious lifters here, as in very built and fit, but they aren't jerks or crazy grunters. I've been to the Bro gyms where guys scream and go crazy with the roids. This isn't that kind of place.
There are a few campers...meaning people who camp at a machine and use it for a long time. In the week we were there, we found there were a few women who I would describe as campers...these people just sit on the machine and don't let anyone work in...this is pretty much in every gym, so it's not unique.
Massage Chair! I didn't use, but a cool feature and nice to have.
I was very pleased. New management is doing a great job. I will definitely be back the next time I'm...
Read moreMy husband and I had been members of Rochelle's Anytime Fitness for over 12 years. The new ownership has been an extreme disappointment. We had all kinds of billing problems when the new company took over. They canceled all group training classes (which was my only reason for membership). For all billing matters, you have to call an 888 number which does not work properly. There is a 30 day cancellation policy so even though we made payment December 18, gave notice on December 28, we were required to pay an additional $49.99 January 18 to honor our contract terms and to cancel. In addition to all of the above, the facility is absolutely dirty. Bathrooms are not clean and floors are filthy. We joined Rochelle's Park District Rec Center and have been very pleased with that decision. We would not recommend this Anytime Fitness to anyone. I would have given a zero star rating but it did not allow me to do so and that is why I gave it a single star.
Response to Owner: I have had enough conversations with Management at the Rochelle Facility and there is nothing further to discuss. I also just responded to two texts stating I am still delinquent, which is NOT the case. I spent 15 minutes on the phone yesterday and finally reached a human at the 888 number to pay the balance needed to close out our contract. If I continue to receive texts....this is literally...
Read moreI'm almost positive I've left a review of this gym before because I never go to a gym this good and not leave a review.
This gym would be solid if you simply entered and went no further than the first room. It has everything you need, with space to move, for a great workout.
But it's the second room that really enshrines the Rochelle Anytime Fitness to elite status. It has boxing stuff, it has wall climbers, it has giant tires, it has sledgehammers, a deadlift area, a kettebell army, an entire second complement of dumbells so you don't have to travel to the first room, more squat racks, a fleet of stationary bikes, heavy ropes and more.
My dudes, it even has a surfboard you can ride.
The only thing this place lacks is a hack squat machine, but here's hoping that's next on the list.
If you can't get a good workout here...the problem isn't the gym.
They even have a zen room for yoga, meditation, and the like. I'd suggest putting up the bamboo walling and maybe some calligraphy to enhance the experience, but hey, it's something.
All in all this place is amazing, and if you want to do work, this is the place that you go.
Couldn't...
