Quiet little city, blink on 88 and youâll miss it.. one of the more conservative areas of Illinois. Overall lacking in food diversity, mainly Pizza and Taco joints. A few fast food restaurants, though dwindling. Plenty of truck stops. Good hub for truckers, and Chicago commuters hence dubbed âHub Cityâ. Once upon a time Rochelle had more in the way of shopping than just the medium sized Walmart they have currently and this âShopping Centerâ. They have an Aldi which is the only alternative for groceries as of the last decade; aside from smaller convenience stores such as the Dollar General which is located in this âShopping Centerâ next to an OâReilyâs Automotive. Thereâs also a couple of Tobacco Shops, and a Hot Dog joint âDog Hubâ. As well as a Metro by T-Mobile. At one point Rochelle did have a Sullivanâs Foods in this center which appears to have closed down because shortly after it moved from this location to the next; the Walmart relocated from its previous location to directly across the highway from them as is often the case in many a small town. Overall a safe community. Lacking in rental properties that arenât Apartments. Rentals that are available seem to be so in a bit of a monopoly situation, 50% or more belonging to the same individual. Some of which are located behind this particular center. Convenient number of local banks, one being Central Bank in this area. One local Pharmacy located downtown. Walgreens and Walmart being the alternatives. Not too much to do in the downtown area unless an event is being held in which case theyâll close off sections of the road in a block party fashion. Otherwise, mostly bars, juice bars, and the odd secondhand store. Nice parks, including one ârailroad parkâ which is parallel to the train tracks for viewing trains. A few slot gambling sites. Newly built recreation facilities which does include exercise and aquatics. Additional seasonal outdoor swimming facility. Also, not far from Six Flags: Hurricane Harbor. Golf Course. Skydiving/Airport. Great area to live or stay if youâre a commuter! Several lodging options. Not too far from Sterling/Rock Falls, Dixon, Oregon, Rockford, Dekalb, Mendota & Peru! Right in the...
