AWFUL. The management is TERRIBLE. On the very first day we moved in we already had problems. There was no cable, and when we told the management to send the maintenance, they told us to call charter. Since THE DAY WE MOVED IN THEY WEREN'T WILLING TO HELP US. They charged us two months worth of rent in one month. They billed us in November for supposedly 54$ worth of "overages" from August (I am extremely conscious of my energy consumption, during that time I kept our AC set at 81 during the day, 85 while we were gone, and 76 at night). When we went to the office to talk to them about this issue, the person that helped us told us our overages looked "really high" and "it looks like theres an issue, we'll send someone out to check your meters". The maintenance came and the only thing he did was check to see if we had any leaks. He told us he was not allowed to touch our meters because they belong to the city of denton, and we would have to call the city of denton to see if our meters were right. So we went back to the office and spoke with the SAME PERSON we originally spoke with and confirmed that we had to call the city of denton. WHY DID YOU SEND THE MAINTENANCE TO CHECK OUR METERS, IF YOU KNEW THEY COULD NOT TOUCH THEM??? They told us that overages are "rare" and that if they happen they will only be "a couple of bucks". EVERY MONTH I PAY AT LEAST 40 IN OVERAGES. Our rent is $1200 to live in a one bedroom. SERIOUSLY $1200. They are just trying to scam some college kids out of money. It is very true, as another review says, that the management always tells different stories, and it is almost like they are purposely doing it to make it harder for the residents to do anything. Of course, this is a college complex so there are always parties going on. Random hoards of people yelling in the park lot, stomping down the stairs in the middle of the night. But last night there was a SHOOTING in the parking lot between two people at a party, and the forum did not even send the residents an email to let them know what happened! And the actual apartments look nice, but are cheaply made. There were so many things that were broken when we moved in (sink leaks, dishwasher, balcony door), and the apartment was NASTY. It looked like they hadn't even cleaned at all. And the mattress that comes with the apartment is THE SAME AS THE DORM'S MATTRESS, just in a full size! (its NOT a queen like they told me when I took the tour) I expected noise, but not as much as I hear. You can hear every noise upstairs, it sounds like they are constantly rearranging the furniture (they aren't, they walls are just that thin). There's always someone blasting their stereo at random times. There's a couple that lives above us and they are constantly fighting and screaming at each other, I've seen them in the parking lot fighting and the other day they were standing right outside my door fighting?? And everyone has dogs that they DO NOT KEEP ON LEASHES, and most owners allow their dogs to bark and growl at people. Seriously?? There are multiple people just in my building who have dogs that are constantly barking at the balcony, just straight up bad owners. And at night its the train horn blasting. I WILL NOT BE RENEWING MY LEASE HERE. I am trying to get out of the lease I am in right now. If you are mature, I would NOT MOVE HERE. And if you aren't, I would NOT MOVE HERE. This isn't just one person's opinion, all the other bad reviews are so true, and I've had many of the EXACT SAME ISSUES that they talk...
Read moreDO NOT LIVE HERE!! Only reason that they are getting one star is because they can't get zero. There are as many 5 stars as there is because they will have events where they give your free bad food or drink in exchange for you putting a good review in. Firstly I'll stat with what little good they have. I will say that the low level desk workers are nice but don't have much power and are mostly unhelpful to no fault of their own, and the maintenance workers are decently nice and will come in and "fix" your problem pretty quick even though there is no real fixing happening, just like a little band aid to get you off their back. The facilities here are garbage. All the "amenities" were closed for almost the entire year until maybe the last two months of my lease. The "biggest Spa in Denton" wasn't warm or even functional all year. the basketball court was filled with boxes and junk for 3/4 of the term. Upon moving in, the coat closet door wasn't even attached it was just laying there, the AC didn't work, we had no access to our wi-fi for about two weeks because they had just "lost" the sheet giving us the password, our patio door didn't lock (we lived on the first floor) and they never actually fixed it. The door also had its inside pane shattered and was letting air into the unit with broken glass all around the edges and floor, which they also didn't fix or replace. Not to mention all the paint splatter, dirt and debris that was in our apartment when we moved in. You'd think for how much they are charging you when you move out it would BE ACTUALLY CLEAN when you move in! Our fridge drawer was also broken upon moving in. The unit you are moving into looks NOTHING like what they showed you at all. The higher ups don't care at all about your concerns and just try to solve the solution enough to not put them at blame. An example being the MOLD that was infesting my apartment which they blamed US for by keeping the AC on "on" an not "auto" saying it was just build up of condensation and dust. Say what you will but the few photos i put here show the truth. I don't think that buildup gets its spores all over my decorations and GROWS THROUGH THE WALL!!! We had our wi-fi go out for a week or so at a time at least three times. I hope you don't do anything to get your charged upon moving out because they will gouge any money they can out of you when you move out, see the photo below of the charges they are pinning me with when I cleaned the apartment to be SPOTLESS with ZERO trash, which they are trying to charge me $30 to pick up. along with $150 dollars of 'Painting fees'. I have asked for a itemized receipt for all charges with proof of why I am being charged but lets see if they even give me that. I sure hope you aren't moving here for the security of the gates, because they are unlocked year round, and offer no real security. I have a coworker that had been chased and threated by a homeless man on the property and instead of the office giving a secure solution, gave them no other option but to figure it out and move. All and all, this has to be the worst apartment I have ever seen or delt with, you would think that over $850 to live with three other people you'd get your money's worth, but I wouldn't even pay $500 a month to live in the tiny box they stick you in with three other people. DO NOT LIVE HERE OR GIVE...
Read moreI have very little good things to say about this apartment, if any. There are many things to consider before you even think about signing here. 1) Tow truck drivers circle here every two minutes. When I first signed, I had no issue with this. Just tell your friends to register their car and it’s fine, right? No. No one can register their car more than 3 times a week. This was really a hassle for me because I couldn’t hire a Rover or have a friend drop in to feed my dog while I was out of town. As a result, I ended up having to pay really expensive boarding costs. I asked management how to go about this since the people were not going to spend the night, but just needed to drop in and feed my dog really quickly, but couldn’t leave their car for even one minute without it being towed away. Management basically said “not our problem” :) 2) Move out charges. This is something I am very used to after living in many apartments. I was completely willing to pay the insane move out fees because that’s just how renting an apartment is. However, after giving my forwarding address, I never received a bill. In Texas, the law is that apartment buildings have 30 days to send a bill. I instead got a collection notice three months later. I asked the apartment for proof they ever sent me any notice and they sent me a PDF just showing typed out dates of when they “emailed me”. Shockingly, my co-signer and I never received a single one of these emails. I even contacted outlook to see what was up lol, and they had no record of these emails either. If you ask me, this was a way to charge move out fees well after I actually moved out and ignore Texas law. Thankfully, I was able to pay the collection notice before it went on my credit. 3) AC problems. On numerous occasions, in the Texas summer heat, my dog and I lived in a 90 degree apartment. The complex would bring me a portable each time that would cool just my bedroom. The rest of the house was unbearable. I read about the Forums AC issues before signing and just thought “maybe mine won’t ever break”. Well it did….3 times in two years. 4) Extremely dirty. Everywhere. Trash piles all over the complex. It was really embarrassing to invite people over. 5) This likely isn’t the complexes fault, not sure. No mail gets directly delivered to your apartment. If I ordered a heavy item, I had to go to the office, pick it up, and figure out how to get it up three flights of stairs. Just very inconvenient. 6) Safety. I heard gunshots around the complex many times. Also, my car was broken into to twice. My poor headphone got stolen! Overall, not a great place to live. I know college students have little money but that doesn’t mean we deserve to live in crappy conditions. Do better, Forum. *also, i know the complex will respond to this email and try to defend themselves, but I find that practice to be very unprofessional. Own up to your mistakes. Everything I have written is 100% true. Take...
