We ate dinner the other evening as part of a seminar group. I go to Saltgrass quite often and this was definitely the most disappointing that I've ever had. The server was not at all friendly. My husband asked for a glass of tea and she said oh I'm sorry we're only doing water. We wouldn't have minded paying a couple bucks for a glass of tea, but she never even gave him the option, sorry just water. The whole meal from start to finish just wasn't good. I ordered my steak medium+ and she said she couldn't do that. It is either medium or medium well. So I took a chance and ordered it medium, figure and it would probably be undercooked because they always are. Rare, I mean not even close. I got a different server to take it back and they brought it back within just a few minutes. The manager stood there with it for a few minutes and after a few minutes another lady said oh my steak is burned. Well they took this opportunity to realize that they brought me for rare steak and she was given my medium steak. When they re-cook the rare and brought it back to me, they gave it to her so I still didn't have steak. When they finally brought it, I asked for it in a box because everybody in the group was mostly done except me and I didn't even have a meal yet. I thought the meal didn't look good on the plate. They put a small steak on there with a little bitty scoop of potatoes and it all just looks lost. The two people across from us were laughing because they had big huge scoops of potatoes with the chicken but me and the lady down for me had tiny Scoops with the beef. Took my meal home and put it in the fridge, popped it out the next day to eat it and guess what... not even close. Now remember, this is the second time for this steak to have been ordered as medium, which is a hot pink center. The steak was good the next day reheated, but I sure would have liked to have eaten it fresh with everyone else. I don't find a place for photos today for some reason, so I can't show you my underdone, completely...
Read moreWe chose Saltgrass over Ruth’s Chris this time because of our amazing previous experience at the Riverwalk location in San Antonio. Unfortunately, this visit was a disappointment.
To start, we were seated in a dimly lit corner. That wasn’t a problem—it actually provided some nice privacy. However, things quickly went downhill after we placed our order.
I have several food allergies, and thankfully, Deszy (apologies if I’ve misspelled your name—I’ll be sure to get it right next time) caught a critical error with my steak. It had been prepared with butter, which could have put me in the hospital. I’m so grateful for Deszy’s attention to detail. Mia also did her best under the circumstances, and I want to acknowledge her effort as well.
What was truly shocking, though, was when the manager, Mike (again, I apologize if I’ve gotten the name wrong), came over and suggested they could just “burn off the butter.” With all due respect, that’s not how food allergies work, and I was honestly stunned by the lack of understanding and empathy.
When the corrected steak finally came out, it still wasn’t cooked the way I had requested. By that point, my best friend had already finished her meal, and I was left frustrated and hungry. We decided to just take the food to go, and I finished cooking it properly at home.
To make matters worse, my receipt showed charges that had been added, removed, and then added again—with no explanation. There were no discounts offered, no formal apologies (aside from Mia and Deszy, who were both wonderful), and no effort from management to resolve the situation or make things right.
This was a completely different experience from our last visit, and sadly, not one we’ll...
Read moreI'm so sad. I booked a private room for my birthday party two months ago. We are getting follow up emails confirming that we definitely are coming for the past month. So our knowledge was that everything was good to go.We get there tonight and they set us in the main dining room with tables all pulled together. We asked why we were not getting the private room and the lady manager said it wasn't in the notes. Name this same my husband was upset and told her that it was unacceptable and she taught us that the private room is not set up. I'm trying to understand why it's not ready to go anyway she was not compliant at all. Then we sit down , order our food. Everyone gets their food, but my husband. He never got his steak. We were all done eating when they finally brought his steak out. We returned it mainly because he didn't have time to eat it. We were done. No one came out and apologize for the mess up. All in all, it was just a horrible night. The only good part about it is our waiter. He very helpful. His name was Chex. (Not sure if I spelled it right.) But he was very kind. seriously the lady manager should've came out and apologized to us. And honestly, we should've got a free meal to return again. We never even seen the manger again the whole night. I will never go there again . Nor will I send anyone that I know. So disappointed in Saltgrass Steak House in Denton Texas You need to do better 🥲. Thanks for ruining my...
