When we arrived we were greeted by a smiling hostess, and she asked how many. We were seated in a timely manner, and in about 30 seconds the waitress approached the table. She brought a basket with four rolls and spread, then gave us our menus and took our drink order. Our drinks arrived in about a minute, and she said she would give us a few minutes to peruse the menu. She was back in approximately two minutes, and was extremely helpful, answering all our questions, and making appropriate suggestions.

We ordered the three-in-one for the appetizer. Nichole ordered the Cowgirl sirloin; I ordered the 16 oz. Porterhouse. We both requested medium. Our appetizer arrived in five minutes, and was presented in a very appealing manner. The food looked absolutely delicious, and one bite confirmed the look was not only skin deep. The hot wings style chicken bites were just right, a little tart from the vinegar, and just the right amount of spice. Those fried crawfish tails were crispy and succulent; and I, who usually forego egg rolls, was captivated by their crunch and flavor.

In another three minutes our food arrived, and was brought to the table by a very gracious young lady, who took the time to ask if we needed anything else. We pushed the appetizers to the side, and one bite of that awesome steak was enough to convince me that I had been missing out on a culinary delight! My wife never used a knife on hers, and although I found it necessary to use mine, the meat was tender and cooked to perfection. The salad was another work of art, with its presentation of mini tomatoes, pepper, and cucumber adding to the appeal. Nichole had Bleu Cheese dressing, while I opted for Ranch.

Our server was one of the best I’ve ever encountered: very prompt with refills, and helpful without being overly pushy. She was very neatly dressed, always had a smile, and deserved the tip we left.

I was a bit nonplussed on our arrival by the appearance that your parking was insufficient, but we found a spot soon enough. As a person who uses a handicapped placard, I am disappointed by your lack of sufficient handicapped spots, but that is another story.

The dining area is efficiently laid out, easy to navigate, and clean as I would expect in my own establishment. It was very laid back, and informal, but I found the height difference between table and chair to be uncomfortable.

We had no reason to visit the restroom, but I feel confident they were as orderly as the rest of your fine dining establishment. I will be back soon, and will tell everyone I can about the magic their taste buds will experience with a visit to Double D...

Beware if you’re even THINKING about eating here. This is actually the 2nd time we’ve eaten here and it will be our last. We visit Fort Polk frequently to visit our son. The first time we visited we came to this steakhouse and the service was bad. The server ignored us the whole time and there was a fly in one of our plates. Ruined the meal because it was a bit gross. I believe in 2nd chances so for our daughter’s birthday we came up like usual and decided to give the steakhouse another chance. Big mistake. Again, the service was bad. We got our food but no utensils. After waiting a while, we finally had to call out for someone to bring us utensils. No drink refills were offered until we we’re almost ready to leave. Most disappointing part of the evening was the food. My son ordered a medium rare filet and got a VERY RARE steak almost raw. (We eat plenty of steaks and we’ve never had one this badly botched) Not only was it obviously undercooked, the inside was deep red and cold to the touch. No one ever came to check on us or see if our food was cooked correctly. It wasn’t until I took a picture of the steak, and the waitstaff saw, that someone came over and asked us if we wanted it cooked more. They took it to cook “more” and brought it back still raw in the middle. Again, the meal was ruined because we didn’t get to enjoy our meal. We’re used to paying high prices for the steakhouses back in San Antonio but it isn’t worth paying high prices for undercooked food and bad service like we received at this Double...

The food is good some days (its hit or miss). Usually slow too, I always feel like im waiting, rather I order to go or dine in.

One night I ordered over the phone, she told me to come get it in about 20 mins. I showed up after about 35 mins. My food was ready but the rolls were not. I wouldn’t have even mentioned the rolls but she said “would you like to wait a few mins, the rolls are about to come out”. I waited 10 mins and then left, disappointed over the pointless wait.

Tonight - I dined in. The waitress approached us after sitting there for about 5 mins and said “Ill be right with y'all”. She took almost 5 more mins to come back to the table and ask for drinks and appetizers. I know that sounds like I'm exaggerating, but Im not. She brought the drinks to us promptly and the appetizer was out with in 10 mins (not to bad to me). So from the point she took our drink/appetizer order she didn’t come back to our table to take our food order for at least 20 mins… the appetizer was half gone. Long story short, we were sat at a table at 6:00pm almost on the dot… and didnt leave until 7:48pm. We waited on every thing except drinks and appetizer and that includes just getting the check.

I feel like this may be normal behavior and timeline for them because she never apologized for any wait times (which is customary at a place that is normally fast). We were there so long I should have started charging for my time.

Food was okay tho. All we ordered was a piece of chicken and a burger… normally...

This would be the place I choose to stop if coming through Deridder. I was impressed with everything here from start to finish and felt like they went above and beyond to make the experience worthwhile. The waitress was attentive and had no issues with answering any of my questions about the menu in regards to a concern related to a food allergy. I was able to enjoy a delicious recipe of crawfish etoufee and the fried catfish. There was more food than I could finish still and I had been fairly hungry. Drink glasses were never left empty and the table was consistently checked on. Service with a smile is what was received here. Each part of the experience came together to make the whole thing great, and I want to give a sincere thanks to each part of the team for my experience here, as this was a real example of southern hospitality and good food. A true gem here.
