Update: Allison reached out to try to figure out why the plating is not seeming to stick to the rings and was very sweet so far.. I know they use an outside source so not 100% their fault on the full quality.. we did also use them for a watch resize to add and everything with that went good with that experience. Will update again or leave another review if more work is done
Personally just do not recommend the plating that they offer. I dropped my rings off ruff about 3 weeks before my wedding- made sure to give them our date, being 7/7.. a holiday weekend. I looked at their hours and they were closed from 7/4-7/8, however, 7/2 came around and no words about my rings so I called- they had to call their guy and when I got a call back.. they told me I told them I was picking it up on 7/7, but how when it’s a Monday, they’re closed normally and it’s a holiday weekend? Whatever, received my rings 7/3- disappointed but also was whatever because wedding was in a few days and they were closing… fast forward, wore my rings for not even 48 hours and the plating was worn horribly- called and they told me to bring it back in- again kinda dismissing the fact that- let’s be honest, the job was rushed. So I took them back in to have them REDONE AGAIN.. picked them up and was “reminded how to take care of them and to avoid chemicals” which was kinda amusing as I’m a very natural mom/wife and did almost nothing the first time having them back.. well this time, it hasn’t even been a full 2 days of wear and they already look bad again.. only thing I have done is wash my hands and shower. I originally had them plated and was WAY harsher on them at first with no issues for at least a month… so just don’t waste the 100$+. There’s a warranty so I’m sure I could go back a THIRD time but why when it only last 2 days. (I also brushed off the fact that it seemed like they were making me to be a “difficult client” and complaining.. I figured I could take it, I just wanted my rings done for what I paid). I did not deal fully with Allison, however from other reviews & only speaking to her on the phone briefly about them wearing the first time , if you DO go here, ask for her! (Photos attached aren’t the best, but in person they are a “tainted silver” is my best way to put it- especially where it touches my skin- again, only have washed my hands in baby (very gentle) soaps)- also added a picture of my ring when I FIRST got them- the plating coated an extra 10$ from the company I bought them from (they do not offer refinishing)- I don’t have of the...
Read moreLeitzels coordinated my daughters class ring to be shipped to Jostens for resizing under her warranty. Jostens sent me a shipping notice that the repairs were done and the ring was shipped back to the jewelry store. That was 10 days ago. I called the store 2 days ago and they said they would call me back, no one did. I called today and was told by Lori? Laura? that they called Jostens and that the shipping notice was system generated in error and that the ring was still in que to ship. Something about her hesitation and tone of voice didn't sit right with me. I called Jostens and they told me that they shipped the ring as the notice indicated and that the tracking info stated that the ring was delivered to the store but returned to the sender.
I'm not sure why the lady lied to me over the phone other than her not having integrity or wanting to own her error but it completely broke my trust and I no longer will do business with them- if they lie about a simple mistake, what else do they lie about? By the way, no one has even returned my calls or emails from the jewelry store and It's been two days in a row..... get it together!!!
Chose another jeweler. This location is beautiful and appears to be semi upscale however the employees are dishonest and unprofessional so..... is that who you really want to handle...
Read moreThese folks are so far out of touch with reality, it's scary.
My wife lost the screwback to one of her diamond stud earrings, so we stopped in today to purchase a replacement.
They didn't have the correct one in stock, and would have to order it. Sure, no problem! Until, the young lady quoted us $90-$100 "due to the high price of gold". For an earring back.... You're off your rocker, folks.
We instead drove to Brent Millers in Lancaster and picked one up for $34 and some change.
Today certainly marks our last visit to Leitzel's.
3/15/25 Edit to reply to owner's response:
Thank you for your reply. I very much hope that you do investigate the quote we were given.
You reiterate that the exorbitant price was due to to unprecedented gold value. While I agree that gold is extremely expensive right now, I still can't get my head around your quote. Let's look at the math:
At the time of our visit yesterday, gold was trading at $2,986.68/ozT (.999). The remaining earring back weighs 2.3grn. 2.3grn of 14kt (.585) works out to roughly $8.35 gold value. I understand that there's manufacturing costs, margins, etc of course. But $90-$100? Please help me...
