I hate to do this one star review but they brought it on themselves...hopefully it is reversible if they listen up and pay attention.
There's two things we like there, the chicken fried rice and the chicken coconut soup (the large quart size)...each a $15-$20+ item or about $40 for two people. Notice both items have "chicken" in the name. Well chicken they have not.
When you go in there's a sign on the door still there about sorry we had to raise prices because the government went crazy about covid aka the common flu and shut everything down now all things cost more for all eternity - so on and so forth. Ok we get it. You raised the prices. Guess what, when you raise the prices that is to maintain the same quality, quantity, of food and level of service while keeping the same profit margin.
What this place did was charge more and remove A LOT of the most expensive ingredients...the protein, in our case the chicken.
There wasn't even a full chicken breast worth of chicken in both meals combined for $40. There was less than 3 ounces, I know because I have a scale. Three whopping ounces of chicken breast meat between two meals for $40.
You used to be able to stretch about two meals between each thing because you had more substance and more protein.
Economists have a nasty little word for this, it's called hidden inflation or shrinkflation...pay more while sneakily getting smaller amounts. It's no longer the big billionaire businesses pulling this crap, it's the little mom and pops.
It's not about costs, it's about greed and treating your customers properly. Again, this establishment made a point to post a sign about the price increases and we agreed to pay them. You don't also cut corners when your customers are compensating you for the shortfall.
You bring shame upon your...
Read moreI enjoyed this precious little joint a lot. Before walking in the building you can smell the wok chi outside that came from the exhaust hood. I already have good feelings going on. The owners and server were speaking actual Thai language, great indicator of legit flavors! And it surely indeed was, this is the best Thai restaurant I've been to so far better than many "best Thai" from where I'm from, I can never look at other Thai restaurants the same anymore, I just got spoiled. I ordered red curry with shrimp and drunken noodles with shrimp and got 9! size 21-25 shrimps in my noodle, a Thai tea which had a huge portion anywhere I've been, a Thai slaw huge portion too, and mango with sticky rice dessert at the end, the total after tax came right under $60, this, is, underrated, under priced guys!!! We had left over to bring back. This is great value! In the era of automation and food processing, more and more restaurant foods aren't fully made to order and restaurants are trying to reduce labor intensity in order to cut costs and keep restaurant running with scarse labor resources. Hard working mom and pop restaurants, ethnic minority and locally owned small business like this need to be supported and cherished. Wok frying is very labor intensive and it's diminishing. I'm only visiting this town for 3 days and I'm gonna eat there again before I go. Service was very quick for one wait staff, it was simple and basic and not the type that get in your face, but adequate, if you like it where the server to all over you, this is not their style, but the server is alert and can tell you more about the food if you ask, that's good...
Read moreWell-spiced and filling food at a fair dinner price! Lovely atmosphere. Very clean, waitress was kind and patient. We got there before the dinner rush thankfully and tried the following things:
Green Curry with Fried Tofu: Spicy, as one could expect from a green curry. Tofu has a wonderful texture to it that makes me want to try it again. Plenty of Thai basil and other spices made this dish aromatic and tasteful. Comes with a small bowl of rice.
Massaman Curry with Beef: Red curry, medium spiciness with potatoes and onions. Delicious. Generous portion of sliced beef in the curry. Comes with a small bowl of rice.
Pork rolls: Fresh, crispy, porky. Not much else to say here - you get two per order.
Tom Ka Shrimp: This was a bit of a curveball. Very interesting soup but maybe leans into the seafood and slightly gamey taste a bit too much for me. It’s hard to describe its flavor, but it lies somewhere in the savory-citrus realm combined with onion and a light sweetness from the shrimp meat.
Hot Thai tea: Smells great, goes nicely with the rest of the aromatic food here.
I’d recommend this place to other people for sure, they offer a range of dishes, both curries and pad Thai with vegetarian options as well. Portions are large enough that we took...
