I am a 71 year old black female who just moved back to Des Moines to bury my only child, my son. He always wanted me to change my black hair color to some shade of red. So I googled hair dressers and came across Transformations. It was close to where I lived, so I visited the shop yesterday(July 5th). I walked in with a very nice lady who complimented me on my shirt. Anyway, when I walked in this person, I assume it was the owner looked at me and said "hmmm." The lady had an appointment, but I did not. I stated to the owner that I googled this shop, and I wanted to get my hair colored. He instantly stated "I am not taking on new customers." I said hmmm, okay. Then he said "There is a big salon right across the street. I said "Thank you."
I would like to think that he in fact was really not taking on new customers and not because I was black. Only he and God knows for sure! But I had that feeling and black people can really pick up on things like...
