Do not go here!!!! This place is a scam and a mess!!! I gave this man who barely speaks English and yells at you to put heels on my boots and some rubber toes on front of one boot because the other was fine. He took my boots and went in back of his shop and came back with the front bottom of both my boots looking worse than they were and proceeded to tell me that need fixing as well for $18 dollars, after asking him what he did to my other boot to make it look worse than the other one I wanted repaired he played dumb. He uses his broken English to do that! When I finally agreed to have the heels and both front bottom of my boots repaired because I got tired of arguing with him and just needed my boots fixed he told me to come back a week later to pick them up in which I did and only the heels were put on!!! Not to mention although I gave him the ticket for my order that he gave me he took a half hour looking for them and didn’t even know what I brought in to repair or couldn’t find them! I had to describe them over and over again! After he finally found them only the heels were repaired! What a joke of a place and he denies everything!!!...

A few weeks ago, I picked up my altered items from Des Peres Alterations, i wanted to write a five star review for Lana and her shop. I am not savvy with technology, did not complete the review before I erroneously hit Post.

I am now correcting that mistake.

Being only 5 feet tall, most everything I purchase has to be altered. Lana has always done a perfect job on everything she has altered for me. She has even removed collars I do not like, has redone shoulder sleeve seams to make the shirt fit me better, taken in dozens of jeans, pants, shortened them, increased and decreased waist lines, shortened coat and jacket sleeves and hemmed them! Her talents are amazing when it comes to making my clothes fit me properly Her prices are fair!! Her pick up dates are always reliable!

I want to clarify a few points. I did not “snatch” the dress as you described. You were holding onto it and reluctant to let it go, which escalated the situation unnecessarily. My concern was never about paying for someone’s time, but about the lack of transparency. The pinning fee was not disclosed until after the service, which is not standard practice and would reasonably frustrate any customer.

What’s most disappointing, however, is not the fee itself but the way this situation was handled. Instead of listening to feedback, you chose to publicly attack me and make assumptions about my character. That type of response from a business owner speaks volumes. Reviews exist so customers can share their honest experiences....not to be berated for them.

I truly hope you take this as an opportunity for self-reflection. Clearer communication and a more professional approach would prevent misunderstandings like this and better serve your future...
