No one greeted us upon entering the store or asked to help us while we looked around, there wasn't even anyone behind the counter. It looked more like a local hang out spot for teens than a professional retail store for paying customers. The merchandise was outrageously overpriced and when the young man/kid finally came to the counter to check us out he charged a more for the dice than the lower sticker price that was marked and was rude when we said due to that we didn't want them. We then asked for the price of a book my son had picked out D&D Monsters and after the price discrepancy before I decided to Google the cost which was $20 less at any other retailer, again when I decided not to purchase this overpriced item here he was rude at which point we left and will definitely not be retuning which is a great loss to the store as I spend quite a bit of money on D&D items for my son, I just buy them at a fair price from Amazon rather than getting ripped off and treated poorly. 11/9/20 They replied by saying the employee was taking out the trash and promptly came back to take our temp, 100% false. Not only was the employee just wandering around the store but no one took any of the 3 of our temps. Shame the owner feels the need to Lie to make the store look better! How would he know who I was based upon security cams when we ultemently decided not to purchase anything? He is clearly lying to cover up poor management! And you want to cry pandemic, I have been laid off since March! Pathetic that you would use the pandemic as an excuse to rip kids off as that is your base customer! We are all going through difficult times but that does not give you the excuse to LIE, cheat or profit off of the misfortinate or misinformed! Shame on you...
Read moreI wanted to support a local gamestore... I emailed beforehand asking about Alpha cards. I received a reply stating they don't maintain any lists but I was more than welcome to come down any time and look through their Alpha binder. I made the 40 minute trip down tonight and was told I had to wait for the owner since they keep it in a back room. I understood and gladly waited. When he arrived, he told me he doesn't allow anyone to look through the Alpha binder and I could email him with the cards I want and he would tell me if they had them or not. I did explain the email exchange but he had no interest. I now have to make the trip home empty handed and confused. I was looking forward to actually looking through the cards from my youth. I do understand the policy, but that should have been made clear to me before I wasted a trip. It is sad because I was planning on purchasing a number of cards from the. If I have to email back and forth and drive 40 minutes, I think it is financially better if I stick to eBay and Amazon. At least I can see pictures of the cards I plan to purchase. One last thing, they have an employee named Mary who was extremely nice and very informative on vintage magic. This is in no way a negative for the employees of the store.
*What the owner posted is a complete and blatant lie. He told me it is his policy to not allow anyone to look through the alpha binder. Period. Nothing was said about refilling it. I am now more upset because he would stoop to lying about the situation. Word of caution to potential future...
Read moreDue to the actions of Adventure Games in December 2022, I know longer support this business and encourage others to do the same.
Adventure Games in Dickson City, PA is NOT a safe place to go to if you have mental health issues or support people who have them.
This is a 1st hand account, and I am posting this to protect our community of gamers.
I belong to a Messenger group used by a person hosting a game there, but the group was not organized or associated with Adventure Games. On the orders of Heather, a manager of Adventure Games, a member was ordered to post about mental health issues of a person who frequents the store. They did not have the permission of the group founder or the person with the issues. When confronted about how inappropriate their claim "we don't have the full story and have had problems with the person in the past". It was pointed out that they were not providing the full story but only what was needed to post the worst picture. They stand by their decision.
We do not know how many other people Adventure Games may have spread word to, but that is exactly why I encourage anyone who cares about others struggling mental illness to avoid this place and spend your money elsewhere.
Any place of business who talks about a person's mental health without the person's knowledge or permission is a clear danger to...
