Beauty By Design — Local services in Douglass Township

I was in search of a new hair salon, so I did my research and looked up reviews. I called Beauty By Design to make an appointment shortly after they opened for the day. Their answering machine picked up; however, I was called back before noon. I was pleasantly surprised that they were able to fit me in the same day! I was set up for an appointment with Karalee. My experience was wonderful!! Karalee was very pleasant. She washed my hair first. She offered a $5 deep conditioning promo that they were running. That sounded splendid, so I added that. She massaged my scalp while she washed my hair... very relaxing!! While the conditioner was on my hair, she did my waxing. I was quite pleased with how she did my brows. I like to have them trimmed as well as waxed. After she rinsed my hair, we came back to her station. My hair is very thick, and she took time to thin it out for me. She also took about 3 inches off the length. She was very knowledge about what products would work for my hair type. I really liked this salon. I got my hair cut by Lydia who was super nice but the hair cut was the worst I've had. It was cut inches shorter than what I wanted and she didn't show me where she was going to start (length wise). She also cut it blunt and my hair was uneven on both sides. I expressed my concern to the person in charge im assuming the salon manager and we talked about fixing my hair and receiving a refund which they don't typically do. I went to the salon for my refund and for her to fix my hair which then told me she couldn't do both. My impression on the phone was that I would be receiving both. I left with my refund and now have to fix my hair myself or pay to have someone else to fix it. I have been here once before and would not return and would not...

Not from PA, but was in town visiting relatives. Needed regular manicure and decided on Beauty by Design. Greeted promptly and manicurist began my manicure. The young lady was pleasant and gentle but unfortunately she gave me one of the worst professional manicures in my life. I had to ask her to clean under my nail bed and the top coat was so thick, old, and gooey. Asked manicurist if this was ok and she replied that it was. My nails looked terrible and she was OK with sending me out of door looking like that. I paid the bill and asked to speak to the owner. She offered to have my nails redone.
