Dollar General — Local services in Dudley

I was appalled by my experience this evening at the Dollar General in Dudley. The young man ringing the register was doing an amazing job and he politely went to go ask his manager for assistance due to the growing line. She came over and loudly, said in front of an entire line of people that “everybody had small items and she thinks he can handle it.” She then walked away slowly doing God knows whatever she was doing while the rest of us in line were awestruck at her negligence to help her employee. When I approached his register, I asked him “ is that your manager?” He hesitantly said yes. I told him he was doing a great job and shame on his manager for not assisting him. He seemed grateful for the comment and smiled at me, saying “thank you for saying that.” This time of year was stressful for retail employees, and management should be doing their diligence to assist them. -1 star for horrible managers; -1 star for their ridiculous cigarette sales rule; -1 star for their inventory issues. TWO STARS FOR THEIR TWO ACTUALLY GREAT REPS.

Note that this store is open until 10 pm. However, not everything can be bought until 10 pm. Should your schedule have you going there late, I hope that you don't plan on buying cigarettes near closing time. It's simply too much work for this surly manager to handle counting them along with the rest of their closing procedures. She has stuff to do, you guys!

The official rule that is helpfully posted on the doors informs you that they won't sell cigarettes past 9:30 pm. However. depending on who is working that night, this rule could begin as early as 9:20 pm. Because the cigarettes must be counted BEFORE their arbitrary time frame begins!

Google's handy tool shows you that the last hour of the day, ANY DAY YOU CHECK IT, is the quietest in terms of customer traffic. So really, guys?...

I love dollar general in Dudley! ! Smartest thing they did was put that in right there!! Conveniently located everyones polite nice helpful and the prices are great.. I love dollar general cause i can go there its close to home they have anything i need including milk and i dont have to stand inline forever or fight for parking or break the bank when i buy something!!! Only complaint is when theres alot of customers there should be more than one register open !! Usually your inline waiting for quite a while on a busy day until another employee opens up a register.. And sometimes ya gotta chase one down to check you out.. Been many times ive stood at the counter looking around waiting for someone to notice me and check me out yelled hello a few times lol.. But its okay cause its still worth it than going to walmart kamart or stupid pricechopper when i...
