As a vintage radio and record player collector for over 45 years I used my collection mostly for display. But I always told people that if you want to have reliable working pieces you need to find a local vintage repair shop with experienced technicians willing to become your best friends when you need their expertise 🙂!
Of course, there are cynics that will say the entire history of electronic consumer products has always been, and continues to be, a purposeful pursuit of manufactured, planned obsolescence! (Which helps to explain a lot!)
I was fortunate to rediscover “Larrys Radio/TV and Electronics Repair Shop” in West Duluth. My new best friends! ✌️
At times I’m reminded of “Emmetts Fix-It Shop” on the fictional Main Street of Mayberry! And I mean that as a compliment after having some old time record players restored to working condition by Steve at Larry’s TV! Please see the photos.
And I will be back this Summer with a few more pieces ranging from Edison players, Victor wind-ups, and a variety of portable table-top record players in need of updating!
Having some favorite pieces of my collection in working condition after all of these years has changed the “direction of my collection!” And I owe that to my friends at “Larrys Electronics...
Read moreThis place is a joke. They've had our tv since february of 2018 and it still isn't fixed. They never call back when promised and whenever we reach out to them, they have the same excuse as to why it hasn't been fixed yet: they were sent the wrong parts. We gladly paid the $75 deposit for work, which seemed optional when we first dropped off the tv. We just visited again today 11/29/19 to ask for our money back and drop off the power cord so he could use the tv for parts for someone else. The owner refuses to give back money and once again told us to contact him this next Tuesday. They have so many TVs, stereos, and whatnot in that cramped little area that there isn't even enough room to change your mind in there! I would love to give this place 0 stars. Absolutely poor service. Don't bother asking them to fix your tv, you'll be waiting years...

Stopped in a couple months later and asked what the status was and I was told that they were still waiting on a part. Another month later I stopped in and asked to see some receipts or I wanted a refund, but was told that info was in their computer system and they couldn't get into it because someone else--that happened not to be there--had the code. They offered to give me the TV back to throw away or wait for it to be fixed. Three years later and I haven't heard back from them. I am now seeking justice by telling you all these are sketchy people and you should not give them your business. They straight up stole $75 from me and this is all I can do. I feel stupid for paying...
