Dunedin Lanes — Local services in Dunedin

Very poor service by staff. Set up a team event to attend cosmic bowling. Staff told us earlier in the week it was $9 per person from 7p-9p on a FRI night. We then find out the day of that it’s $15 per person and from 9:30p-11:30p. We lost several players who were going to attend, due to the bad info by Dunedin Bowling Lanes staff.

Then, because of the time, a player had to leave soon after arriving, part way through the first game. Another player who arrived late was going to just take their place. The desk staff refused to give this player bowling shoes without paying another $15. A staff member said “everyone knows” about the times for cosmic bowling, after I discussed the issue with the misinformation. Staff member said “we don’t make any exceptions”. He made no effort to try to positively resolve the matter.

Well, poor service and not so nice staff results in our group going to a different bowling alley in the future, as why should we make an “exception” for poor handling by staff. If I could give zero stars, I would.

Congrats to staff, you lost customers and will lose more in the future (as I will tell everyone I know) over $15. Guess they are more worried about the sloppy drunks jamming up the entrance while they are smoking their nasty cigarettes, then family friendly groups.

PS.... as evidenced by the comments from the owner, they just want to try to protect their online image. They’ve seemed to of lost the business sense of satisfying their customers.

The Lane was down so yes, someone from the group did go up them, they apologized for anything that happened (not knowing all the details) and asked that the Lane be fixed. The owner here seems to be twisting things to benefit his online presence.

Let’s not forget his failure to address the issue of the sloppy drunks lining the entrance. Remember, this place is all about money and drunks pay good money...

What started off as a nice mother / daughter trip quickly went bad after checking in at Dunedin Lanes. The shoes smelled HORRIBLE!!!! That alone would have been enough to make me leave but my daughter had her heart set on bowling so I figured my thick socks would protect me from whatever was surely lurking in the shoes. We paid and went to our designated lane and started picking out a ball. The second ball I found I selected and as soon as I stuck my fingers in I hit something gooey in the thumb hole!!! I snatched my hand out completely grossed out. On I went looking for a new ball (after hand sanitizer) and found one which I peered into before sticking my fingers in the holes. So now we're playing and things are looking up. We paid for two games and halfway through the second game our lane shut down. We were on the 5th frame so I sent my daughter up to the counter to tell them we had a technical issue (this had happened during our last trip to Dunedin Lanes also). The guy at the counter told her the game was over. I went up to the counter to explain what had happened to the guy (and a lady who was working the counter too) and the lady said "nope your game is over". I said "no it's not we were only halfway through". She replied "well I can't go back in and get it working again so your game is over". Worst customer service ever- in addition to the filthy shoes and ball. I like to support local Dunedin businesses since I live here but I will certainly NEVER go back to Dunedin Lanes after this...

This place is amazing! The bar staff in the karaoke bar (Saturdays) are amazing! The husband/wife team and the third female bartender provide exceptional service even when it’s unexpectedly busy. They run as an efficient team.

The karaoke jockey, Scott, is phenomenal and I’ve seen him elsewhere many times before, but he really shines here and gets to be himself, unlike elsewhere where he doesn’t get that opportunity and is tied to a system non stop. This is the best Saturday karaoke gig I’ve ever seen. Definitely better than that overcrowded, underserved space in Tampa (City Side). The only time I’ve seen that place run efficiently was when my husband worked there. I don’t ever need to go back. And frankly, the manager sucks.

The food here at Dunedin Lanes is amazing and unlike some other reviewers, they do have food. Just order before last call and they take care of you. The food is amazing. Handcut and breaded onion rings, hand cut and breaded cheese...
